Perceived distress, personality characteristics, coping strategies and psychosocial impairments in a national German multicenter cohort of patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: This study examined differences in personality, psychological distress, and stress coping in inflammatory bowel disease … than patients suffering from UC or controls. Importantly, patients with active CD scored higher in neuroticism (p < 0.01), psychological distress (p < 0.001) and maladaptive stress coping (escape, p = 0.03; rumination, p < 0.03), but less need for social support (p = 0.001) than controls. In contrast, patients suffering from active UC showed psychological di …

Durability of improvement in post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms and absence of harmful effects or drug dependency after 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine-assisted psychotherapy: a prospective long-term follow-up study.

We report follow-up data evaluating the long-term outcomes for the first completed trial of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)-assiste … SD Scale (CAPS). Secondary outcome measures were the Impact of Events Scale-Revised (IES-R) and the Neuroticism Extroversion Oppenness Personality Inventory-Revised (NEO PI-R) Personality Inventory. Homeopathic constitutional type questionnaire correlates of conventional psychological and physical health scales: individual difference characteristics of young adults.

This study examined associations between scores for 19 different remedies on the constitutional type questionnaire (CTQ) and scores on stand … ing scale. The majority of CTQ constitutional type scores correlated significantly with greater NEO neuroticism, lower MCSD defensiveness, and greater psychological distress on the POMS subscales. NEO Extraversion and Openness subscales correlated with specific CTQ scores in directions consistent with clinical remedy pictures. CTQ Carcinosin differed from oth …

Psychosocial predictors of treatment response to cognitive-behavior therapy for late-life depression: an exploratory study.

OBJECTIVE: The primary objective of this study was to examine a variety of potential predictors of response to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in depressed older adults. METHOD: Sixty older adults with a clinical diagnosis of major or minor depression or dysthymic disorder received 12 individual sessions of CBT over a three- to four-month-period. The BDI-II was administered pre- and post-intervention to assess change in the level of depression. A cutoff score of 13 or less at post was used to determine positive treatment response. A variety of measures (obtained at baseline) were evaluated

Factor Structure and Psychometric Properties of the BIS/BAS Scales in Children and Adolescents With Autism.

The Behavioral Inhibition System and Behavioral Activation System (BIS/BAS) Scales offer a framework for assessing individual differences in … construct validity through correlations with emotion problems, risk avoidance, response inhibition, neuroticism, shyness, activity, and extraversion. Findings support the BIS/BAS Scales as a psychometrically sound measure of reward and punishment sensitivity in autistic youth. Further research is needed to confirm model generalizability, structural stability, …

Cardiovascular risk indicators among depressed persons: A special case?

BACKGROUND: Traditional cardiovascular risk indicators only partially explain cardiovascular risks in depressed persons. Depressed persons may exhibit a profile of cardiovascular risk indicators that goes beyond traditional cardiovascular risk indicators, such as symptom severity, insomnia, loneliness and neuroticism, yet research on the added value of these depression-related characteristics in predicting cardiovascular risks of depressed persons is scarce. METHODS: Data from N = 1028 depressed Dutch adults without prevalent CVD were derived from two longitudinal depression cohort studies. T…
