He was diagnosed as having Marshall syndrome because of bilateral cataract, high myopia, saddle nose, hypertelorism, and lack of arthropathy. Degenerative arterial disease does affect the ligamentum teres and the capsule of the hip joint. In this investigation, the frequency of these changes was investigated in four groups of patients with hip disease. It is concluded that the highest incidence of all of degenerative arterial disease is found in elderly patients with subcapital fractures and in young patients with avascular necrosis of the femoral head after renal transplantation. The significance of this finding needs to be investigated further.

A prospective study of randomized analysis treatment of 50 cases of frozen shoulder was carried out in 3 Swiss medical centres. Three separate aetiological groups were studied: post-traumatic (40%), neurological (14%) and idiopathic (46%). Non-capsulated Haemophilus influenzae may cause neonatal septicaemia. Genital carriage of this pathogen was studied in 3 mothers of infected neonates and in 2 pregnant women in the first trimester. A carrier state in 2 of the females was terminated by antibiotic therapy after 3 and 7 months, respectively. A previous carrier had no recurrence of H. influenzae in a subsequent pregnancy. Severe contusion of the lens in a penetrating scleral injury of the eye of a young patient resulted in separation and bleb-like detachment of the posterior lens capsule with subcapsular accumulation of a fibrin-containing exudate. This separation of the posterior lens capsule resulting from increase of permeability with subcapsular fluid accumulation is believed to represent a possible basic mechanism of posterior lens involvement without capsule rupture secondary to ocular trauma.

Ultrastructural studies of one week old cotton-induced granulation tissue revealed the presence of polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN), macrophages and mast cells, whilst the granulation tissue from two week old cotton implants contained fibroblasts, myofibroblasts and abundant collagen fibres. Similarly, the bovine adrenal capsule contained both fibroblasts and myofibroblasts. It is proposed that the bovine adrenal capsule and two week cotton-induced granulation tissue could be utilized as in-vitro models to study the mechanism(s) involved in myofibroblast contraction.

This article describes the seventh known case of blue nevus of the lymph node capsule and reviews the previously reported cases. The migration arrest hypothesis as an explanation for the occurrence of this lesion is favored rather than the "benign metastasis" hypothesis.
