Self-Reported Training Needs and Continuing-Education Preferences of the School Medicine Workforce in Romania: A National Cross-Sectional Survey.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The continuing professional development (CPD) needs of school medical personnel in Romania have not been characterised at a national scale. We quantified the workforce's self-reported training needs to inform a national CPD programme. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional, self-administered online survey (July-September 2025) of school physicians, nurses, dental physicians, and dental nurses, recruited by open invitation through the national school-medicine association's channels. Training needs (59 role-specific items in seven thematic domains) were rated on a 5-poin

Characteristics of exercise- and nutrition-based continuing education for health-care professionals to support community-living older adults in Canada.

Health-care professionals (HCPs) have an important role in disseminating and implementing exercise and nutrition care to older adults to support aging in place. We performed an environmental scan to examine the availability of exercise- and nutrition-based continuing education (CE) resources for kinesiologists, physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and pharmacists in Canada relating to the specific needs of community-living older adults. Data were collected between 2023 and 2024 using websites of provincial and national organizations for HCPs, advocacy

ChatGPT-4 Performance on German Continuing Medical Education-Friend or Foe (Trick or Treat)? Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: The increasing development and spread of artificial and assistive intelligence is opening up new areas of application not only in applied medicine but also in related fields such as continuing medical education (CME), which is part of the mandatory training program for medical doctors in Germany. This study aimed to determine whether medical laypersons can successfully conduct training courses specifically for physicians with the help of a large language model (LLM) such as ChatGPT-4. This study aims to qualitatively and quantitatively investigate the impact of using artificial int

Effect of Novel Continuing Medical Education Curriculum on Attitudes and Understanding of Primary Care Medicine for the Naval Surface Provider.

INTRODUCTION: Naval Surface Forces provide care in austere environments with unique facility, personnel, and material limitations that can put the patient at risk without proper consideration of these circumstances. Tailored shipboard education currently exists but is greatly dependent on the time, preferences, expertise, and ability of a single teaching officer, allowing for significant variability in the level of training. MATERIALS AND METHODS: One hundred and twenty-two individuals were trained in 19 topics presented over 12 months through the Naval Surface Forces Pacific Command Medical

Effects of a continuing education program on nurses' practices of cancer pain assessment and their acceptance of patients' pain reports.

A hospital-based quasi-experimental (pretest and post-test) study was conducted in Kaohsiung Veteran General Hospital, Taiwan. This study was to evaluate a continuing education program (CEP) on nurses' practices of cancer pain assessment and their acceptance of patients' pain reports with respect to four types of misconceptions. A questionnaire was sent to on-duty nurses or head nurses with patient care responsibilities before the implementation of CEP (n=645) and six months after the program (n=630). The response rates were 92.6% and 91.3% for pretest and post-test surveys, respectively. The

One midwife, one student: Exploring continuity of preceptorship in midwifery education.

BACKGROUND: In Australia, undergraduate midwifery students spend a substantial component of the degree undertaking Midwifery Practice Experience (MPE) placements. The quality of this experience, particularly the consistency of preceptorship, plays a critical role in shaping student learning and professional identity. Continuity of preceptorship, where a student undertakes midwifery professional experiences under the supervision of the same midwife, has been shown to enhance learning outcomes. AIM: To investigate and compare students' perceptions and experiences within both the newly implement

Continuity interrupted: exploring discontinuity of education and mitigation strategies in family medicine.

BACKGROUND: Continuity of education (CoE) is a growing area of interest in health professions education, both for its impacts on learning (continuity of curriculum and continuity of supervision; CoS) and for its influence on patient care (continuity of patient care; CoPC). The COVID-19 pandemic offered an opportunity to examine discontinuity of education and the potential impacts of interruption to CoE, a knowledge gap in medical education research. METHODS: We conducted 14 semi-structured qualitative interviews involving participants from a Canadian family medicine programme. We recorded and

Continuous monitoring of health status outcomes: experience with a diabetes education program.

A diabetes education program was evaluated using an outcomes management system. Data concerning health status outcomes, including glycemic control (HbA1c), diabetes-related quality of life, and general health-related quality of life, were collected over a 15-month period. This information was collected for each clinic patient at entry into the program and again at a 6-month follow-up session. Patients improved significantly in all categories of outcomes. Newly diagnosed patients showed significantly greater reduction in HbA1c than did patients with a history of diabetes. Health-related quality

Congruence between perceived and theoretical knowledge before and after an internet-based continuing education program about venous leg ulcer nursing care.

BACKGROUND: Previous research has revealed nurses' knowledge gaps in venous leg ulcer (VLU) nursing care, and continuing education is needed. The closer nurses' perceived knowledge is to their evidence-based theoretical knowledge, the better possibilities they have to conduct evidence-based VLU nursing care. OBJECTIVES: To assess the congruence between nurses' perceived and theoretical knowledge about VLU nursing care before and after an internet-based education about VLU nursing care (eVLU). DESIGN: Quasi-experimental study with intervention and comparison groups and pre- and post-measureme

Identifying professional education gaps and barriers in multiple myeloma patient care: findings of the Managing Myeloma Continuing Educational Initiative Advisory Committee.

Advances in the past decade and a half have led to unprecedented improved outcomes for patients with multiple myeloma (MM), and this disease appears to be transitioning to one more characteristic of a chronic disease in large part due to rapid translation of clinical insights into practice at the community level. Although evidence-based guidelines and consensus recommendations remain an important resource for managing cancer patients, they do not fill the gap between the principles of disease management today and the translation of tailoring treatment for individual patient needs. Thus, there

How We Embedded Consumer Engagement Into Workplace Education and Continuing Professional Development: A Quality Improvement Initiative in a Tertiary Imaging Department.

Consumer engagement, meaning the active involvement of patients and carers with lived experience, is increasingly recognised as central to high-quality, patient-centred healthcare, and in Australia it is embedded in national accreditation standards. Within diagnostic imaging departments, however, consumer perspectives remain under-represented in workplace education and continuing professional development (CPD), where educational activities have traditionally prioritised technical competency and workflow. This is despite the fact that clinicians frequently meet patients at vulnerable moments. T
