BACKGROUND: Orf is a disease of sheep due to a parapoxvirus. Transmission in man is possible, and is generally benign, self-limited condition. Although, rare complications have been mentioned. We report a case of Orf with erythema multiforme in a young girl.

Erythema multiforme is an immunologically mediated skin reaction to a foreign antigen and can occur with many drugs. We report the first two cases of erythema multiforme induced by 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). The first case was in a man with inoperable gastric carcinoma being treated by continual infusion who developed the classic rash involving the neck and upper chest, along with mouth ulceration and plantar-palmar erythrodysaesthesia. BACKGROUND: Saquinavir is a protease inhibitor used for the treatment of HIV infection. Adverse skin reactions have been rare. We report here the first case of erythema multiforme in a patient given saquinavir.

Two patients developed classical erythema multiforme while taking oral terbinafine. A case of Stevens-Johnson syndrome occurring after terbinafine therapy has recently been described, but there have been no published reports of an association with erythema multiforme until now.

A patient with Mediterranean spotted fever with a typical exanthema acquired in South Africa developed erythema multiforme 12 days after the beginning of the rickettsial infection. The exanthema caused by the rickettsial infection as well as the erythema multiforme were effectively treated with tetracyclines.

We studied the response to treatment in 25 patients with erythema multiforme minor, 13 of whom were given corticosteroid while 12 were not. Apart from a shorter duration of fever, the steroid-treated group did not respond better than the non-steroid treated group.
