BACKGROUND: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is a common operation performed worldwide. Indications include acute cholecystitis (AC), with a trend of increasing complexity post-COVID-19. We aim to evaluate the health expenditure on LC at an Australian tertiary centre.
METHODS: A retrospective chart review was performed for all LC between July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023 collecting demographics, costs and wait times and comparisons performed between elective and emergency LC.
RESULTS: 125 patients underwent emergency and 78 elective LC. There was no difference between age, sex or ASA. 67 patients

The book-binding technique (BBT) has been developed to minimise extra detachment and mobilisation of the duodenum for totally laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (TLDG) with Billroth I reconstruction. Because of the cost-effectiveness and maximisation of the anastomotic lumen, we have modified the BBT in collaboration with the laparoscopic hand-sewing technique. Thériaque is a French-drug database, which was created 25 years ago by the centre national hospitalier d'information sur le médicament (CNHIM). The aim was to collect and diffuse independent information to healthcare professionals. From the beginning, the database had two objectives: information access and data input into prescription/dispensary software. Initially accessible via Minitel, then on CD-ROM, Thériaque has been integrated into hospital software. Since 1998, Thériaque is available on the Internet (www.theriaque.org). Today, the CNHIM develops Thériaque in a totally independent way.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to test the efficacy of the Teaching Early Literacy and Language (TELL) curriculum package for improving the early literacy and oral language skills of preschoolers from low-income families.
METHOD: In a randomized controlled trial (RCT), TELL was implemented in 30 TELL and 28 business-as-usual classrooms.
