BACKGROUND: Unicompartmental resurfacing prostheses have been reported to be useful for treating comminuted fractures involving the distal radial joint surface in elderly patients with osteoporosis. However, the data on this method remain scarce and further evaluations are needed. The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes after unicompartmental resurfacing prosthesis implantation in patients with distal radius fractures and at least 2 years' follow-up.

Blindness due to outer retinal degeneration still remains largely untreatable. Photoreceptor loss removes light sensitivity, but the remaining inner retinal layers, the optic nerve, and indeed the physical structure of the eye itself may be unaffected by the degenerative processes. PURPOSE: Treatment of scaphoid fracture sequelae is still an unsolved problem in hand surgery. Custom-made 3D-printed titanium partial and total scaphoid prosthesis and scaphoid interosseous ligament reconstruction (SLIL) are performed in cases of non-union and isolated aseptic necrosis of the proximal scaphoid pole and when it is impossible to save the scaphoid bone, respectively.
