Global Perspectives on Perinatal HIV and Its Implications for Sexual and Reproductive Health: A Scoping Review.

Globally, the management of adolescents and young people living with HIV has predominantly emphasized clinical outcomes, neglecting their overall well-being and sexual and reproductive health (SRH), making it essential to address these gaps for effective targeted interventions. Existing literature elucidating the SRH experiences of adolescents and young adults (people) living with perinatally acquired HIV (AYA-PHIV) across various countries was synthesized by this scoping review. We conducted a systematic search utilizing electronic database. Fifteen peer-reviewed articles met the inclusion cr

Mentalisation-based therapy for eating disorder treatment: protocol for a systematic review.

INTRODUCTION: Eating disorders (EDs) are complex psychological and physiological disorders that often co-occur in the presence of other mental health difficulties. Mentalisation-based therapy (MBT) offers a promising therapeutic approach for treating comorbid difficulties by fostering individuals' capacity to understand their own and others' mental states. More specifically, MBT is a novel approach for treating EDs that recognises the intricate interplay between psychological factors and disordered eating behaviours, targeting the underlying cognitive and emotional processes implicated in ED p

Vaccines, Bias, and the Perils of Non-peer-reviewed Studies: Fueling Misinformation and Vaccine Hesitancy.

Unvetted scientific claims about vaccines can spread rapidly and undermine decades of progress in immunization and public trust. A recent non-peer-reviewed analysis, promoted at political hearings, in the documentary "An Inconvenient Study," and on social media, has been used to suggest that vaccinated children experience higher rates of chronic illness than unvaccinated peers. Despite standard regression models, critical flaws - uncontrolled confounding, exposure misclassification, unequal follow-up, and outcome multiplicity, invalidate causal inference. An independent group of international

When Being Bad Feels Good: A Systematic Review of the Relationship Between Positive Emotion and Antisocial Behavior in Children and Adolescents.

Antisocial behavior in childhood and adolescence is associated with poor family and peer relationships, and a higher risk of mental and physical health problems in adulthood, as well as criminality. Emotions play a central role in children's moral development, but most research has focused on negative emotions (e.g., shame and guilt), in relation to childhood antisocial behavior. Research in adult populations indicates that positive emotions experienced in anticipation of, during, and after antisocial acts may play an important role in the development and maintenance of antisocial behavior. Peer relations of youth with pediatric conditions and health risks: promoting social support and healthy lifestyles.

Peer relations and close friendships play important roles in youngsters' emotional development and take on special significance when a child or adolescent has a chronic disease. This article reviews the key ways that peer relations have been examined in youth with chronic pediatric conditions and specifically focuses on (1) the role of peers and close friends as a source of support, (2) friends' influence on treatment adherence, and (3) peers' and friends' impact on health-promoting and health-risk behaviors. In general, youngsters with chronic conditions do not have more problems in their pee

Retractions in tuberculosis research: analyzing patterns, reasons, and temporal trends from 1993 to 2023.

The integrity of tuberculosis research is critical for global public health, yet the phenomenon of article retractions in this field remains underexplored. This study examines patterns, reasons, and temporal trends of retracted tuberculosis-related research articles. A comprehensive analysis of retracted tuberculosis articles published between 1993 and 2023 was conducted using data from the Retraction Watch database and scholarly databases, Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science. Journal characteristics, publisher distribution, retraction reasons, and keyword patterns were systematically analyzed.

Protocol for a scoping review of potential vaccine candidates predicted by VaxiJen for different viral pathogens between 2017-2021.

BACKGROUND: Vaccination is essential for the prevention of infectious diseases and has helped to reduce disease-related mortality, such as pneumonia. However, traditional vaccine development is time-consuming and risky. Reverse vaccinology (RV) is a promising alternative to developing vaccines based on the in silico discovery of antigens, often termed 'potential vaccine candidates' (PVCs), using a pathogen's proteome. RV prediction technologies, such as VaxiJen (founded in 2007), are used to take the first step toward vaccine development. VaxiJen is used by researchers to identify PVCs for var

Experimental paradigms in personality disorder research: A review of covered RDoC constructs, methodological issues, and future directions.

Studies using experimental paradigms have been paramount in research on psychopathological processes in personality disorders (PDs). We review 99 articles that report experimental paradigms and that were published between 2017 and 2021 in 13 peer-reviewed journals. We structure the study content according to the National Institute of Mental Health Research Domain Criteria (RDoC), and report details on demographic variables, experimental design, sample size, and statistical analyses. We discuss unequal representation of the RDoC domains, representativeness of the recruited clinical groups, and
