INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Traumatic posterior dislocation of the hip is often associated with fractures of the femoral head and posterior wall of the acetabulum. However, hip fracture-dislocation that includes the posterior wall of the acetabulum and the ipsilateral femoral trochanter is rare. There is no consensus on the bone that should be operated on first, the operative position, and the choice of implant for femoral fixation.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 67-year-old man was brought to our emergency department after a 2-m fall. He was diagnosed with a hip fracture-dislocation associated with p

Open comminuted tibial fractures caused by gunshot injuries remain challenging due to the high risk of infection, bone loss, and prolonged functional impairment. We report the case of a young male patient who sustained a severe open comminuted tibial diaphyseal fracture with a large segmental bone defect following a gunshot injury. The patient was managed using a short-interval two-stage approach, consisting of early distraction osteogenesis with an external fixator followed by timely conversion to intramedullary fixation combined with autologous bone grafting. This strategy allowed effective

Comminuted mandibular fractures (CMFs) associated with panfacial trauma are challenging because restoration of skeletal continuity does not necessarily re-establish functional occlusion or facial form. We report a staged multidisciplinary rehabilitation in a 34-year-old man who sustained severe craniofacial injuries in an industrial explosion, including a CMF, multiple midfacial fractures, and extensive anterior maxillary destruction. Initial treatment consisted of hemorrhage control, top-down open reduction and internal fixation, and simultaneous orbital floor reconstruction. Because severe m

INTRODUCTION: Scapular fracture is rare fracture as it comprises of only 3 % to 5 % of total shoulder fractures also in that, comminuted type is most uncommon type. High velocity force and direct blow are the most common cause of scapular fracture. We report a case of 60 years male with comminuted scapular fracture following physical assault by stick over back.
CASE PRESENTATION: The case study presents a sixty years old male who sustained comminuted scapular fracture following physical assault by stick in the back. The patient presented to Emergency Department with complains of pain and swel

BACKGROUNDS: The treatment of complex distal radius fractures, particularly those involving both intra-articular disruption and significant metaphyseal comminution, remains a considerable surgical challenge. While volar locking plates have become a widely accepted standard for stabilizing these fractures, alone they may not address all fracture patterns. This study presents a surgical approach that incorporates the use of a mini-plate to provide targeted support for the metaphyseal region. We hypothesize that combining a mini-plate for metaphyseal stabilization with a volar locking plate for o

BACKGROUND: Fixation of comminuted femur fractures may result in limb length discrepancy. Intraoperative fluoroscopic measurement of the contralateral femur with a ruler is commonly performed to establish a reference for femoral length. No evidence regarding the reliability and accuracy of this technique exists. This study aimed to assess the accuracy and interrater reliability of a fluoroscopic ruler in obtaining correct femoral length in a comminuted femoral shaft fracture model.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Approximately 5 cm of bone was removed from the left femoral diaphyses of 8 cadavers. Sev

BACKGROUND: Ankle fractures involving the posterior malleolus generally lead to worse outcome. However, no studies on gait in trimalleolar ankle fractures have evaluated the influence of size and comminution of the posterior malleolar fragment.
METHODS: We expected patients with more severely comminuted posterior malleolus, more severe fracture type and larger posterior fragment to have reduced gait kinematics and poorer patient-reported outcomes. 26 trimalleolar ankle fracture patients were compared with 14 healthy controls and kinematically analyzed using the Oxford Foot Model. Functional o

BACKGROUND: Repositioning the displaced articular disc is the key procedure that prevents ankylosis of the temporomandibular mandibular joint (TMJ) in the treatment of patients with comminuted condylar fractures. The conventional procedure performed clinically is to use two anchors and sutures to reposition the displaced articular disc. Therefore, this paper introduces a new and economical method to reposition the articular disc without metallic implantation materials.
CLINICAL PRESENTATION: A 60-year-old male patient who had fainted suddenly 3 days before came to our hospital to complain of

The combination of dorsal dislocation of the navicular from the talus and a comminuted fracture of the calcaneus (transcalcaneal talonavicular dislocation) is an unusual and severe injury. It occurs due to a forced plantarflexion of the talar head through the anterior portion of the calcaneum and is usually associated with a potential for skin and neurovascular compromise. Few cases have been reported in the literature. This article reports an unusual case of an open transcalcaneal talonavicular dislocation associated with the presence of a calcaneal comminuted calcaneal fracture.

Traction and external fixation are the methods of choice by treating the comminuted fractures of the distal part of the radius. Bringing in two screws into the second metacarpal bone and the radius proximity from the fracture makes possible the traction and fixate the fractured bone splinters. The reposition of the comminuted fractures needs a very strong traction and provides to expand the ligaments and the wrist articular capsula. The aim of our study is to explain the mechanical influence of the external stabilization on the wrist and the wrist function after the immobilisation with the dis

14 unstable comminuted intraarticular fractures of the distal radius were treated by the use of the A/O mini-external fixator. The distal pins were inserted in the distal fragment, thus leaving the wrist joint free to mobilize. Clinical results were assessed at 3 to 12 months using the Sarmiento demerit point system. Nine were male and five female, with a mean age of 37 years. Ten fractures were closed and four were open. 11 patients (78.5%) had an excellent functional score and three (21.5%) had a good score. All patients had normal wrist morphology with an average radial length of 11 mm, rad
