INTRODUCTION: A discrete subaortic membrane (DSM) is one of the causes of subaortic stenosis in children. The incidence, characteristics, and the therapeutic options for such membranes in adults have not been well documented. This report documents the clinical and pathological features of DSM in adults.
METHODS: DSMs, surgically excised over a 10-year period in a large adult tertiary care center, were reviewed with regard to the age and gender of the patients, clinical findings, and the morphological features.

The premature rupture of membranes (PROM) is responsible for 30 % of the premature births because of a high risk of associated chorioamnionitis. Our objective was to determine the rate of spontaneous version following preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM). Medical charts over a 4-year period were reviewed. All women with PPROM and singleton gestation between 24 and 34 weeks gestation were included; 65 patients met the inclusion criteria. We report a case of chorioamnionitis with intact membranes caused by Capnocytophaga sputigena. The pregnant woman was hospitalised in preterm labor without fever, neither tenderness, just regular contractions. Antibiotic treatment of the patient with preterm premature rupture of membranes remote from term significantly prolongs pregnancy and reduces amnionitis without increasing the risk of cesarean delivery. Antibiotic treatment reduces perinatal infectious morbidity including neonatal sepsis, GBS sepsis, and pneumonia. Premature rupture of the membranes (PROM), defined as rupture of the membranes before the onset of labor, is a common obstetric event occurring in 10% of pregnancies. Most of the time this occurs at or beyond 37 weeks' gestation with only 10% of PROM occurring at less than 37 weeks' gestation. BACKGROUND: Amnionitis rarely occurs with intact membranes. Haemophilus influenzae is a rare pathogen in intra-amniotic infection, but its importance and prevalence could be increasing, as reflected by the growing number of reported cases in the last 20 years.

The transfer process of salicylic acid through a cellophane membrane is studied. The active component is formulated as a semisolid emulsion (O/W) for external local application. Different theoretical mathematical models are applicable to the experimental data obtained in order to find the mathematical expressions which define the transfer kinetics. Later on, comparative studies of these mathematical models are carried out in order to choose the one which better defines the whole transfer process.
