The multilayer antimony-doped tin dioxide coating was obtained by cathodic deposition of multilayer metal-hydroxide coating with near 100-nm thickness layers on the alloy underlayer accompanied by the anodic oxidation of this coating. Atomization temperatures have been measured for silver, cadmium, chromium, copper, nickel, lead, tin and zinc. The effect of various anions on the atomization temperatures of these metals has been examined. Of the anions investigated which were added as acids, only phosphate affected the atomization temperatures. For elements which atomized at a lower temperature than tin, phosphate addition resulted in an increased atomization temperature but those which atomized at a higher temperature than tin were not affected. The title compounds, [Sn3(CH3)9(OH)2(H2O)2][Sn(CH3)3(CHO2)2] (1) and [Sn3(CH3)9(OH)2]Cl·H2O (2), are partially condensed products of hydrolysed tri-methyl-tin chloride. In the structures of 1 and 2, short cationic tris-tannatoxanes (C9H29O2Sn3) are bridged by a diformatotri-methyl-tin anion or a chloride anion, respectively. Hydrogen bridges are present and supposedly stabilize these structures against further polymerization to the known polymeric tri-methyl-tin hydroxide. Especially noteworthy is that the formate present in this structure was formed from atmospheric CO2.

Chemistry that uses metalloid tin clusters as a starting material is of fundamental interest towards understanding the reactivity of such compounds. Since we identified {Sn10[Si(SiMe3)3]4}(2-) 7 as an ideal candidate for such reactions, we present a further step in the understanding of metalloid tin cluster chemistry. The paper reports selective mono-etherification of the 2-, and 3-hydroxyl groups of methyl 4,6-O-isopropylidene-α-d-mannopyranoside using tin(II) chloride catalysed reactions of diaryldiazomethanes. The mutagenicity of 14 organotin compounds which have been reported to be environmental pollutants, their environmental metabolites and inorganic tin (SnCl4) was studied. The experiments were carried out by a modification of the conventional Salmonella assay.
