There is even a complete lack of observations on the first 6 months of life of individuals with transient autistic behaviours who improved in their socio-communicative functions in the pre-school age.

This study aim to determine the proportion of traffic rule infractions in Cali, Colombia, in places where a road traffic injury (RTI) occurred. Description of videotaping of sites where a person was injured in an RTI in 2009. Counts of road users and infractions were established for each road user group and were compared using a Z-test. A penetration-aspiration scale exists for assessing airway protection in adult videofluoroscopy and fiberoptic endoscopic swallowing studies; however, no such scale exists for animal models. The aim of this study was threefold: (1) develop a penetration-aspiration scale (PAS) for infant mammals, (2) test the scale's intra- and interrater reliabilities, and (3) validate the use of the scale for distinguishing between abnormal and normal animals. We report the electro-clinical characteristics of a case with Gastaut type idiopathic occipital epilepsy. The visual seizures, a cardinal feature of the syndrome, are described and illustrated by video sequences. A number of stereotyped seizures are shown where the child, an 11-year-old boy, clearly describes the visual phenomena experienced. Prognosis of this common form of partial idiopathic epilepsy is relatively good but, as in our case, seizures may be very frequent during a long period of time. In such cases the term 'benign' is probably not the most appropriate.

The use of automated external defibrillators (AED) by lay people has the potential to markedly increase survival from community cardiac arrest. Wider public use of AEDs requires units that can be operated safely and effectively by people with minimal or no training. Our goal was to determine and compare vocal cord (VC) closure pressure and its associated intratracheal pressure during several physiological events such as swallowing, coughing, straining, and phonation. We studied 11 healthy subjects (age 41 +/- 2 years) with no current or previous history of laryngeal or pulmonary diseases. BACKGROUND: The Schedules for Clinical Assessment in Neuropsychiatry (SCAN), the successor of the ninth version of the Present State Examination (PSE-9), is one of the latest instruments developed by the World Health Organisation for the assessment of psychiatric disorders. So far, the psychometric properties have only been established for certain sections of the instrument. The present study is the first to test the psychometric properties of SCAN-2.1 for most of the disorders covered by the SCAN, and was carried out prior to a survey conducted in the Nijmegen Health Area (the Netherlands).
