Orofaciodigital syndrome I: a case report.

Orofaciodigital syndrome I is a syndrome, which affects the maxillofacial region. Abnormally developed vestibular frenulum, cleft tongue, asymmetric cleft palate, pseudocleft of the upper lip and hypoplasia of the nasal cartilages are some of the other features. There are some malformations in foot and hand fingers and also mild mental deficiency is present. OFD I syndrome follows an chi-linked dominant mode of transmission trait limited to females and lethal in males. Because of the esthetic and functional manifestations in the maxillofacial region, the syndrome has great importance for pedia

Aplasia of tibia with split-hand/split-foot deformity. Report of six families with 35 cases and considerations about variability and penetrance.

Six families with a total of 34 affected persons with the syndrome of tibial aplasia and ectrodactyly are reported. The spectrum of malformations is compared to that of 99 familial cases from the literature. The full-blown syndrome consists of bilateral aplasia of tibiae and split-hand/split-foot deformity. Additional malformations may be distal hypoplasia or bifurcation of femora, hypo- or aplasia of ulnae, and minor anomalies such as aplasia of patellae, hypoplastic big toes, postaxial and intermediate polydactyly in connection with split-hand deformity, and cup-shaped ears. The mildest visi

Congenital anonychia and brachydactyly of the left foot - Cooks syndrome variant: Case report and review of literature.

Cooks syndrome is characterized by familial congenital anonychia or onychodystrophy, hypoplasia or absence of distal phalanges of the hands and feet with brachydactyly of the fifth finger and digitalization of the thumb (triphalangism). It is listed as a "rare disease" by the Office of Rare Diseases of the National Institutes of Health. Here, we report a case of congenital anonychia and brachydactyly of the left foot, which possibly is a variant of Cooks syndrome with a positive family history of similar deformity.

Unlocking the power of motor imagery: a comprehensive review on its application in alleviating foot pain.

BACKGROUND: Motor imagery is a cognitive process that involves mentally simulating movements without physical execution. It has been studied in the context of foot pain to understand the role of motor cortical reorganization and its impact on motor imagery abilities. However, further research is needed to establish consistent evidence regarding the relationship between motor imagery and foot pain. METHODS: This review analyzed five relevant articles that investigated motor imagery in the context of foot pain. The studies involved participants with various conditions, including leg amputation,

Pembrolizumab-related hand and foot skin reaction.

Hand and foot skin reaction (HFSR), usually associated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors, is characterized by painful erythema and hyperkeratosis at palmoplantar pressure points. HFSR differs from the more widely recognized chemotherapy-induced hand-foot syndrome (HFS) in terms of both clinical and histopathological features. Here we present the case of a 79-year-old man with advanced lung adenocarcinoma who developed grade 3 HFSR after receiving pembrolizumab, a PD-1 inhibitor. The patient initially presented with erythema, desquamation, and hyperkeratotic plaques on the palms and soles, follow…

Ultrasonographic evaluation of hand and foot tendons in Behçet's disease.

BACKGROUND: There have been few studies in the literature evaluating the effect of Behçet's disease (BD) on tendons. Thus, we planned to search for the involvement of hand and foot tendons in BD by using ultrasonography and to determine the relation of tendon involvement with clinical measurements. METHODS: The study consisted of 33 randomly selected BD patients and 36 voluntary healthy controls matched by age and body mass index. Sonographic evaluations were performed from hands (flexor digitorum süperficialis (2-5), flexor digitorum profundus (2-5), flexor carpi radialis) and Achilles tendo

Ectrodactyly (split-hand/split-foot) and ectodermal dysplasia with normal lip and palate in a four-generation kindred.

Five members of a four-generation Mauritian family with ectrodactyly (split-hand/split-foot deformity) and ectodermal dysplasia but without clefting of the lip or palate have been investigated. The ectrodactyly ranged from virtual normality to severe tetramelic deficiencies. The ectodermal dysplasia manifested as hypotrichosis and abnormal dentition. Distinction is drawn between this autosomal dominant condition and the classical EEC syndrome; independent syndromic status is proposed.

Podiatric Adverse Events and Foot Care in Cancer Patients and Survivors Awareness, Education, and Literature Review.

Cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Recent improved therapies have resulted in more patients surviving cancer and living longer. Despite these advances, the majority of patients will develop adverse events from anticancer therapies. Foot alterations, including nail toxicities, hand-foot syndrome, edema, xerosis, hyperkeratosis, and neuropathy, are frequent among cancer patients. These untoward conditions may negatively impact quality of life, and in some cases may result in the interruption or discontinuation of cancer treatments. Appropriate prevention, d…

The thoracodorsal vascular tree-based combined fascial flaps.

In this study, combined fascial flaps pedicled on the thoracodorsal artery and vein were raised and used for thin coverage of dorsal surfaces of the fingers and the dorsum of hand and foot with favorable results. The combined fascial flaps consist of the serratus anterior fascia and the axillary fascia at the entrance of the latissimus dorsi. These flaps were used for reconstruction of the hand, fingers, or foot in nine patients. Reconstruction was performed for burn or burn scar contracture, after resection of malignant tumors, posttraumatic skin defects, and chronic regional pain syndrome. T

Apert syndrome without craniosynostosis.

BACKGROUND: Apert syndrome is a rare form of syndromic craniosynostosis, also known as acrocephalosyndactyly, which is a disorder characterized by a unique set of craniofacial, hand, and foot abnormalities. Diagnosis is made through a genetic analysis, where the mutation of FGFR2, Ser252Trp, and Pro253Arg confirms the diagnosis. CASE PRESENTATION: Although craniosynostosis is the most common characteristic in clinical presentation, we present an atypical case of a one-and-a-half-year-old girl with Apert syndrome confirmed by genetic testing but without craniosynostosis.

EEC syndrome sans clefting: variable clinical presentations in a family.

Ectrodactyly, ectodermal dysplasia and cleft palate/lip syndrome (EEC) is a rare autosomal dominant syndrome with varied presentation and is actually a multiple congenital anomaly syndrome leading to intra- and interfamilial differences in severity because of its variable expression and reduced penetrance. The cardinal features include ectrodactyly, sparse, wiry, hypopigmented hair, peg-shaped teeth with defective enamel and cleft palate/lip. A family comprising father, daughter and son presented to us with split hand-split foot deformity (ectrodactyly), epiphora, hair changes and deafness wit
