Maxillofacial trauma is a common presentation in veterinary medical practice. Accurate assessment, diagnostics, pain management, and finally repair are tenants to treatment. In addition to typical tenants for fracture repair, the restoration of occlusion and return to function (eating, drinking, grooming) are unique to trauma management in these patients. Options for repair include conservative management (tape muzzles), noninvasive repair techniques (interdental wiring and composite splinting), and invasive repair techniques (interfragmentary wiring and plate and screw fixation).

OBJECTIVE: To review our 4-year experience (2008-2011) with delivery room triage of large for gestational age infants of diabetic mothers.
DESIGN/METHODS: Retrospective cohort investigation of 311 large for gestational age infants of diabetic mothers (White's Class A1 (77), A2 (87), B (77), and C-R (70)).
RESULTS: Of 311 women, 31% delivered at 34-36 weeks gestational age and 69% at term. While 70% were delivered by cesarean, 30% were vaginal deliveries. A total of 160 asymptomatic infants were triaged from the delivery room to the well baby nursery. Of these, 55 (34%) developed hypoglycemia

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection with obstruction constitutes a surgical emergency. Medical therapy is palliative and unlikely to result in significant or sustained physiologic improvement. Two cases demonstrate the successful use of a novel management scheme in which patients are admitted directly to the operating room for diagnosis confirmation and treatment, obviating the need for time-consuming preoperative assessment in an intensive care unit before surgery.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate six years experience using cervicography to triage women with borderline or mildly dyskaryotic PAP smears to either immediate colposcopy or cytological surveillance.
METHOD: Retrospective study of 1,436 women referred to the cervicography clinic of the Whittington Hospital, London. Women with suspicious cervigrams were examined colposcopically and biopsied. Women with normal appearances at cervicography were followed-up with cytology over a period of a least two years.
