We present the case of a 65 years old pacient which was admitted for the sudden decrease of visual acuity in the left eye, accompanied by ocular pain and conjunctival hiperemia, simptoms appeared after an ocular trauma. After the clinical and paraclinical examination we determined the diagnosis of OS: Penetrating ocular trauma with retention of a foreign body; posttraumatic cataract. We report a case of recurrent choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in an eye with chorioretinal coloboma. A 36-year-old woman presented complaining of decreased visual acuity (VA) in her left eye. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 20/200 and iris coloboma was observed. Funduscopy and fluorescein angiography (FA) showed CNV in the superior extrafoveal region with chorioretinal coloboma reaching just inferior to the optic disc. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of circumferential scleral buckling on the prognosis for patients undergoing pars plana vitrectomy and lensectomy for severe closed globe injury.
METHODS: A total of 33 cases in which pars plana vitrectomy and lensectomy were performed after severe closed globe injury between January 1990 and January 2003 were studied retrospectively. All patients had zone III contusion type injury according to The Ocular Trauma Classification Group criteria. Of the 33 patients, 15 (group 1) also underwent peripheral scleral buckling; 18 did not (group 2).

OBJECTIVE: To determine the long-term visual acuity (VA) outcome of eyes with ambulatory vision (20/80 or better) that were treated with transscleral laser cyclotherapy.

PARTICIPANTS: Twenty-one eyes of 21 patients who had been treated with laser cyclotherapy and who had been followed up at least 1 year.

METHODS: From December 1995 to December 1999, trans pars plana vitrectomy was performed in 11 patients (11 eyes) diagnosed as Coats' disease. We report on 17 patients with GAVE-syndrome (gastric antral vascular ectasia) treated by means of endoscopic argon plasma coagulation (APC). 16 of 17 patients presented with iron deficiency anemia; transfusion-dependent anemia was noted in 11 patients (65%). Resolution of the gastric angiectasia could be achieved in all patients by endoscopic APC after 1-4 treatment sessions.
