Little information on the natural course of corneal astigmatism following cataract surgery exists. We report a prospective, computerized analysis of postoperative astigmatism, based on keratometry measurements, of 137 cases of extracapsular cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation performed by one surgeon. Of 894,375 Israeli adolescents undergoing standardized medical and ocular assessments in our nationwide cross-sectional study, 2,622 (0.3%) had autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Adolescents with ASD had significantly higher adjusted odds of both myopia and astigmatism compared with peers who did not have ASD. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A random cluster design was used to recruit children from primary schools across urban and rural settings in Tunisia, from 2008 to 2010.
