Clusters of main group elements, such as phosphorus, arsenic, germanium, and tin - called Zintl clusters - have been known for more than a century. However, their application in main group catalysis is largely unknown. Here, we tether boranes to a seven-atom phosphorus cluster ({C8H14}BCH2CH2SiMe2)3P7 (2) and we demonstrate Lewis acid catalysis as proof-of-principle that boron chemistry can be mapped onto clusters using this method. Catalyst 2 was employed to mediate key organic transformations, including the hydroboration of carbodiimides, isocyanates, ketones, alkenes, alkynes, and nitriles.

One hundred and six unselected patients were screened for allergic symptoms, specific IgE against ethylene oxide (ETO), isocyanates (ISO), formaldehyde (FA), phthalates (PHT), total IgE and eosinophil count. Inhibition of histone deacetylase (HDAC) metalloenzymes with hydroxamic acid-based inhibitors is compromised by generally poor metalloenzyme selectivity and the potential for genotoxicity arising from isocyanate metabolites. AIM: To review notifications to the Occupational Safety and Health Service of the Department of Labour Notifiable Occupational Disease System since its inception until June 1996.

We propose a scenario for the dynamic co-evolution of peptides and energy on the primitive Earth. Patch testing is widely used in evaluating suspected contact dermatitis. One major component of a quality patch test result is a dependable, predictable allergen supply. The allergen needs to be present at a sufficient concentration to elicit a reaction in an allergic patient. To better understand the stability of patch-test allergens, we completed a systematic review of the literature. We found that there is variability in stability among patch-test allergens and that although a few have been shown to be stable, many degrade when in storage. In most cases, expiration dates should be honored.
