Lead is toxic to many organ systems, among them bone marrow, muscles, kidneys, endocrine glands, joints, and nervous system. Encephalopathy is a rare but severe complication of lead poisoning. Lead toxicity is much less common in adults. Adult lead poisoning results primarily from exposure by inhalation in the workplace. In this report, two cases of adult toxic encephalopathy due to lead poisoning are presented with CT and MR findings.

At the age of 4 years, a total cavopulmonary connection was performed in a boy with a complex congenital heart defect. On addition, a DDDR pacemaker was implanted for sick sinus syndrome. Atrial and ventricular leads were epicardially placed at the left atrium and left ventricle. BACKGROUND: The prognosis of intraocular foreign bodies consisting of lead remains controversial. While experiments have shown that infected lead becomes sterile when fired from rifles, both the total absence as well as presence of severe inflammation have been observed following perforating injuries with lead. Semen qualities were studied in workers with an average age of 30 years and occupationally exposed to lead in a printing press. Another sample with the same average age but not exposed to lead were taken as control subjects. The average lead content in blood and seminal plasma of the exposed group were 42.5 mcg/100 ml and 14.80 mcg/100 ml, respectively. The use and safety of the esophageal electrocardiogram for detection and diagnosis of dysrhythmias or ischemia during anesthesia was compared with the conventional electrocardiogram using leads II and V5 in 20 patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
