BACKGROUND: External ventricular drain (EVD) placement is a routine neurosurgical procedure used to treat acute hydrocephalus and monitor intracranial pressure. Kocher's point is the most commonly used anatomical landmark, but other entry points can be challenging even for experienced neurosurgeons.
