Movement of coronary stents after deployment can produce complications. We report a case of stent migration that led to stent coverage of a distal dissection, obviating the need for placement of a second stent. In this case, stent movement was therapeutic.

A multicenter study was conducted to evaluate a new temporary caval filter (Tempofilter) designed to be implanted for up to 6 weeks. A total of 66 patients with a mean age of 51.8 years were enrolled in the study. All had documented high risk of pulmonary embolism: severe deep venous thrombosis in 89.5% of cases and previous symptomatic pulmonary embolism in 65% of cases. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Children with monocular aphakia who become contact lens intolerant require an intraocular lens (IOL) for visual rehabilitation. When there is inadequate support from the posterior lens capsule, use of an anterior chamber IOL or a sclerally fixated posterior chamber IOL may be considered. In four missed posterior shoulder dislocations, a trial of closed reduction was successful, but severe instability required further therapy. The glenohumeral joints were immobilized by 3 to 4 percutaneously inserted threaded pins. Removal of the pins after 4 to 6 weeks was followed by physiotherapy. After a follow-up of 4 to 42 months, the functional results of this simple procedure are good and there is no recurrence. Bending of the ends of the pins, a very careful follow-up to deal with pin migration, and adequate prevention of subsequent convulsions in epileptic patients are mandatory.
