Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a central driver of pathological angiogenesis in cancer and retinal disease. We report on a patient with ischemic colitis and another with paralytic ileus, both of whom experienced an acute abdomen after intravitreal injection of bevacizumab (IVB). Case 1 was a 78-year-old woman. Her medical history included surgery for colon carcinoma 10 years earlier. We evaluated characteristics of the optic disc in ocular hypertensive patients which might portend future glaucomatous damage. We included in this study 12 patients with an intraocular pressure > 21 mmHg who on follow-up showed signs of optic nerve head damage. Effects of D-timolol and L-timolol on IOP were compared with two rabbit models. When the drug solution was injected into vortex vein, 1% D-timolol produced ocular hypotension just like 0.5% L-timolol except D-timolol was less potent than L-timolol to lower the IOP.
