The authors share their experiences with performing the first in Russia operation of making the aorta valve prosthetics from a mini-access--transverse sternotomy. It is concluded that operations through such accesses are safe for the patient and relatively easy for the surgeon. Its main advantage consists in quick surgical rehabilitation of the patient and good cosmetic effect.

Transcatheter aortic-valve implantation is rapidly emerging as an effective, safe, and sustainable alternative for a specific subset of high-surgical risk and/or inoperable patients with severe aortic stenosis. However, technical challenges remain for this relatively new procedure, not the least mal-positioning of the transcatheter prosthesis resulting in acute aortic regurgitation. We report a case of deep implantation of a CoreValve prosthesis that was inadvertently pulled out of the aortic annulus during repositioning. UNLABELLED: Testicular absence may cause psychological trauma in children. It can be avoided by placing testicular prosthesis (TP). However there is no consensus on the optimal age of implantation. We evaluate the results of TP implantation and their complications, as well as patient and family satisfaction.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: This is a retrospective study of TP implanted between 2004-2010 in our center. Variables analyzed are: age, size and side, indication, surgical technique, complications and comorbidity. Telephone survey was done by a single interviewer to 50 families.

Surgical approaches for implantation of three-piece inflatable penile prostheses include the infrapubic and the penoscrotal. The penoscrotal approach avoids possible injury to the dorsal sensory nerves, provides easier and more complete corporeal exposure, and allows the pump to be anchored in the scrotal pouch.
