AIM: To report the first case of an isolated lumbar grade II atypical choroid plexus papilloma (CPP).
CASE REPORT: A 42-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of back and leg pain. No urinary or rectal dysfunction was detected. Lumbar magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a well-circumscribed, contrast-enhancing, intradural extramedullary mass at L2-3. He underwent L2 and L3 partial laminectomies for tumor resection and complete resection was achieved without causing neurological deficit. Infantile choroid plexus papilloma (CPP) associated with multiple peritumoral cysts is a rare variant of CPP, and clinical course and optimal management are largely unknown. A 9-month-old boy presented with a large solid tumor in the left lateral ventricle associated with multiple peritumoral cysts, arachnoid cysts, and hydrocephalus containing xanthochromic fluid with high protein content. Uveal melanoma mainly affects the choroid and to a lesser extent the ciliary body. Its clinical presentation, as well as the angiographic and microscopic features are often reported. Its macroscopic appearance is less often reported in publications, however. The macroscopic study of these tumors provides useful information and a series of photographs illustrating the macroscopic study of these tumors was gathered to be shown to ophthalmologists who have little experience with these intraocular tumors.

We have reported that the sensitivity of immunoscintigraphy in ocular melanoma is fairly low in comparison with (metastasizing) cutaneous melanoma. GKNS for uveal melanoma has become a recognized valued treatment which avoids enucleation of the eye. In the early days, the eccentric location of these tumors made treatment difficult, but Gamma Knife Perfexion has solved that problem. It is known that larger tumors and tumors with an anterior location have a worse prognosis. GKNS has also been of rather unexpected benefit in optic nerve gliomas that require treatment. Choroidal hemangiomas may benefit from treatment as can secondary glaucoma. It has also been found to be beneficial in the treatment of thyrotoxic ophthalmopathy.
