BACKGROUND: Transgender and gender diverse (TGD) populations have high mental and behavioral health morbidity, yet few studies have explored inequities in TGD people at the intersection of multiple identities.
PURPOSE: This study sought to describe inequities in severe psychological distress and substance use by gender/sex, race, and socioeconomic status (SES) in TGD adults.
METHODS: We conducted an intersectional multilevel analysis of individual heterogeneity and discriminatory accuracy (MAIHDA) with 25 443 TGD people in the 2015 US Transgender Survey, nested within 48 intersectional socia

BACKGROUND: Exclusionary discipline (ED) has long been an educational equity concern, but its relationship with student health and protective factors is less understood.
METHODS: Using population-based public school student data (N = 82,216), we examined associations between past-month ED and positive depression and anxiety screening instrument results. We also assessed whether each of 9 potential protective factors moderated the ED-mental health relationship by testing interaction effects.
RESULTS: Over 1 in 10 youth experienced past-month ED, with variation by sex, gender identity, special

Women and men are at different risk for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is unclear, however, how studies on PTSD risk factors integrate this knowledge into their research. Moreover, the temporal development of women's higher PTSD risk is unknown. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we examine how prospective studies on PTSD development (k = 47) consider sex and gender across four domains (samples, terminology, analyses, and reporting). Further, we differentially analyze sex/gender differences within five time intervals from 1 month to 5 years posttrauma. PTSD prevalence (OR =

BACKGROUND: Tobacco smoking is a leading cause of health inequalities, and smoking rates are higher among people who are gender-diverse. This study examined smoking prevalence, dependence, quit attempts, and cessation behaviours among gender-diverse adults in Great Britain, compared with adults identifying as men or women. METHODS: Cross-sectional data were drawn from the Smoking Toolkit Study, a nationally representative survey of adults aged 16 years and above in Great Britain, collected between October 2020 and June 2025. Gender identity was self-reported as male, female, or in another way,

BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis (TB) continues to impose significant morbidity and mortality, with gender influencing access and outcomes within the TB care continuum. Despite international guidance and global commitments on gender-responsive TB care to improve the equity and effectiveness of the TB response, the extent to which gender is considered in TB strategies remains unclear. This scoping review aimed to collate and synthesize the evidence on gender-responsive TB interventions designed and implemented in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and high TB burden countries from 2000 to 2025.

OBJECTIVE: To identify how family advocates and clinicians describe disparities in NICU quality of care in narrative accounts.
STUDY DESIGN: Qualitative analysis of a survey requesting disparity stories at the 2016 VON Quality Congress. Accounts (324) were from a sample of RNs (n = 114, 35%), MDs (n = 109, 34%), NNPs (n = 55, 17%), RN other (n = 4, 1%), clinical other (n = 25, 7%), family advocates (n = 16, 5%), and unspecified (n = 1, <1%).
RESULTS: Accounts (324) addressed non-exclusive disparities: 151 (47%) language; 97 (30%) culture or ethnicity; 72 (22%) race; 41 (13%) SES; 28 (8%) dru

OBJECTIVES: Our study aimed to investigate the experiences of adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer from racially/ethnically diverse and/or 2SLGBTQIA + communities within the Canadian healthcare system to identify areas for improvement in their cancer care experience.
METHODS: The study included participants who self-identified as racially/ethnically diverse and/or 2SLGBTQIA + , diagnosed with cancer between ages 15 and 39 years, currently aged 18 years or older, and received or were receiving cancer care in Canada. Patient partners with lived experience of cancer were recruited as

BACKGROUND: Recent research has found that gender parity (i.e., the ratio of women to men) in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) disciplines is associated with sexual violence (SV) victimization for women. This finding may reflect a type of backlash wherein SV is a means of punishing women who are perceived to be violating their gender roles and threatening the male hegemony. Sexual minorities, who are likewise disproportionately victims of SV, report experiencing heterosexist hostility and harassment in STEM disciplines. There is reason to suspect that the combination of these

➢ Sex-based differences are understudied, which has potential consequences for the health of everyone.➢ Women's health is particularly affected given a lack of sex-specific data across many disease states.➢ Journals do not consistently require the inclusion of both sexes and the disaggregation of data by sex in cell, animal model, and human studies.➢ Instructions for investigators and journals regarding the inclusion of sex-specific data are found in guidelines such as those by the Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) group, but these guidelines are underutilized.➢ Consistency in the incl…

Among livestock species, poultry and small ruminants are of particular importance to rural women in low- and middle-income countries, as means to generate income, provide nutritious food for the family, accumulate wealth, and confer social status. Newcastle disease (ND) and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) are widespread livestock diseases of poultry and small ruminants, respectively. While both diseases are vaccine preventable, numerous constraints limit the availability of and access to livestock vaccines, especially among the most vulnerable populations in developing countries. Background: Unprecedented stressors have significantly impacted our nation. These occurrences compounded the prepandemic structural factors that disproportionately affect historically, economically, and socially marginalized communities of color and women as highlighted by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. In response, health care organizations and regulatory bodies have shifted from the quadruple aim to the quintuple aim to conceptualize health care improvement by adding to the prioritizing of the health workforce's well-being and advancing health equity (Nundy, C

Transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) individuals face significant barriers to fertility preservation, yet existing guidance from ESHRE, ASRM, WPATH, and the Endocrine Society remains too general for translation into implementation-ready national pathways. This review synthesizes evidence on the reproductive effects of gender-affirming hormone therapy, clinical outcomes of fertility preservation in TGD populations, the intersection of neurodiversity and gender diversity, and the structural, interpersonal, and intrapersonal barriers to equitable reproductive care-translating this evidence into a

OBJECTIVE: This study examined heterogeneity in the prevalence estimates of mental health, alcohol, and drug use outcomes across cisgender heterosexual subgroups and sexual and gender minority subgroups using a national probability sample.
METHOD: We conducted a secondary data analysis with the U.S. Transgender Population Health Survey (n = 1,436). We calculated prevalence estimates of serious psychological distress, suicidal ideation and attempts, elevated posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms, hazardous alcohol use, hazardous drug use, and co-occurring outcomes across subgroups using cutof

How might the science of men's health progress if research on marginalized or subordinated men is moved from the margins of the literature to the center? This commentary seeks to answer this question, suggesting that if more attention is paid to men of color and other marginalized men, the field will be greatly enriched in its ability to understand determinants of men's health. Reimagining men's health by moving men's health disparities to a primary focus of the field may yield critical new insights that would be essential to moving men's health to the center of health equity research. The DSM-5 text revision (DSM-5-TR) is the first published revision of the DSM-5 since its publication in 2013. Like the previous text revision (DSM-IV-TR), the main goal of the DSM-5-TR is to comprehensively update the descriptive text accompanying each DSM disorder on the basis of reviews of the literature over the past 10 years. In contrast to the DSM-IV-TR, in which updates were confined almost exclusively to the text, the DSM-5-TR includes many other changes and enhancements of interest to practicing clinicians, such as the addition of diagnostic categories (prolonged grief disorder, stimu
