IMPORTANCE: The evaluation of the effects of midline platysmaplasty concomitant with rhytidectomy.
OBJECTIVE: To determine whether midline platysmaplasty limits the degree of lift during deep-plane face-lift.
DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: Deep-plane rhytidectomy was performed on 10 cadaveric hemifaces. The redundant skin for excision after performing the face-lift was measured with and without midline platymaplasty.
EXPOSURES: Deep-plane rhytidectomy.
MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES: The redundant skin was measured preauricularly in the vertical and horizontal dimension, and postauricularl

BASIC DATA: Lifting the soft tissues from the midface is a necessary component in many cases in complex facial rejuvenation. Despite the widespread use of these surgeries, technical difficulties and a significant number of complications persist.
OBJECTIVES: This paper details the technique of medial limited mid-facelift with the main purpose of correcting age-related changes of the lower eyelids and the middle third of the face.
METHODS: In all clinical cases, the surgery was performed through the subciliary approach. A limited subperiosteal dissection of the midface soft tissues was used, w

Brow aging rarely presents as isolated descent; patients perceive a composite change in lateral hooding, brow-tail contour, and the brow-lid-temple transition. This article argues that the dissection plane is not interchangeable and that many clinically relevant changes are expressed at the cutaneous-subcutaneous level. Gliding-based, subcutaneous techniques use controlled release, redraping, and temporary multipoint fixation with a surgical net to restore brow contour and periorbital harmony. By expanding the boundaries of dissection when indicated, this approach can achieve comprehensive per

This article aims to improve understanding brow aging and lifting. A better understanding of brow lifting release and vectoring will help surgeons optimize their techniques and results. Our preferred technique for nearly all patients seeking an esthetic brow lift is an endoscopic-style temporal brow lift with a subsuperficial musculoaponeurotic system release and appropriate resuspension. Thorough release improves brow lifting results and longevity, decreasing the necessity for more invasive methods and their potential adverse effects. We believe that this is a superior technique than the subc

BACKGROUND: Traditional neck rejuvenation-liposuction, platysmaplasty, and skin redraping-overlooks intrinsic mandibular-cervical asymmetry, digastric insertions, platysmal discontinuity, submandibular gland descent, and age-related hyoid retrodisplacement. These influence submental contour and require a tridimensional, anatomy-based correction.
METHODS: A retrospective study of 177 patients (99 women, 78 men; mean age 59 y, range 26-78 y) undergoing isolated neck rejuvenation (2003-2024) assessed outcomes of the 3D neck lift, which has been used since 2018 in Knize stage II-III and stage IV c

Lip lift is a versatile procedure to shorten the upper lip and improve the morphology and proportion of the lip. It is commonly performed as part of facial rejuvenation in Western patients, whereas in Asian countries, younger people tend to desire a lip lift because a shorter upper lip is considered more attractive. The lip lift carries a risk of an unfavorable aesthetic outcome when underlying skeletal deformities, such as maxillary protrusion and vertical excess, are not addressed, resulting in an undesirable degree of dental exposure. This article described our experience of integrating ort

This study evaluates the aesthetic and psychological outcomes of combining rhinoplasty with a lip lift, focusing on facial harmony and patient satisfaction. To assess whether the combined procedure improves facial proportions and satisfaction. We hypothesize significant aesthetic and psychological benefits. A retrospective cohort study of 50 female patients (aged 18-49) was conducted, compliant with STROBE (Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology) guidelines. Patients underwent combined rhinoplasty and lip lift between April 2021 and October 2024. Pre/post measurem

Central platysmal banding is a common reason patients seek surgical rejuvenation of the lower face and neck. Numerous surgical methods have been described to address platysmal banding, but all are associated with high recurrence rates. Many theories have been proposed to explain causes of both primary and recurrent platysmal banding; however, persistent innervation by the cervical branch of the facial nerve has recently been implicated as the primary cause. This article summarizes the available evidence on platysmal banding and reviews surgical and nonsurgical methods to address primary and re

Basocellular carcinomas are characterized by their non-deep spread neoplastic nature. Although treatment typically proceeds without complication, excision in critical facial regions can lead to aesthetically undesirable defects. Furthermore, elderly patients often express aesthetic concerns, particularly regarding the thinning of the upper lip over time. This article presents the case of a 75-year-old patient with a basocellular carcinoma located on the tip of the nose, amidst a history of multiple neoplastic conditions. To address the defect, an inferiorly-based philtral advancement flap was

Deep-plane or composite flap facelift techniques allow deep structural rejuvenation of the face by release of retaining ligaments in the subsuperficial musculoaponeurotic system (sub-SMAS) plane with elevation and fixation of the SMAS/platysma/skin flap as a single, "en bloc" unit. This means that in the cases with mild to moderate skin laxity, the preauricular incision serves the purpose of access only. The author therefore developed an endoscopic-assisted, en bloc composite flap face and neck lift without a preauricular incision. The technique uses the prezygomatic and premasseteric (facial)

OBJECTIVES: Mucous retention cysts and pseudoantral cysts are mainly located within the floor of the maxillary sinus. Most of these maxillary cysts are asymptomatic and often only require observation. However, the presence of these benign maxillary cysts may create problems when maxillary sinus all types of implants are needed. Various treatment methods have been introduced. The selected treatment option depends on the type, size, and location of the cyst and its symptoms. Patients and.

Rhytidectomy is a complicated surgery. Less experienced surgeons are often confronted with technical challenges. To simplify the procedure and achieve long-lasting effects, the authors propose a modified rhytidectomy method, reorder surgical sequences and suggest a stepped lift of the superficial musculoaponeurotic system.A total of 54 patients underwent this surgical procedure. Superficial musculoaponeurotic layers of the temple, face, and neck were dissected sequentially and suspended to lift the ptosis tissue. They scored the frontalis and excised the corrugator after raising the flap in th

Maxillary sinus lift for dental implant installation is a well-known and versatile technique; new techniques are presented based on the physiology of intrasinus bone repair. The aim of this review was to determine the status of graftless maxillary sinus lift and analyze its foundations and results. A search was conducted of the literature between 1995 and 2015 in the Medline, ScienceDirect, and SciELO databases using the keywords "maxillary sinus lift," "blood clot," "graftless maxillary sinus augmentation," and "dental implant placement." Ten articles were selected for our analysis of this te

BACKGROUND: The sinus lift (or sinus augmentation) is a common procedure to improve maxillary bone stock before dental implantation. Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a potential complication of this procedure and may be refractory to medical treatment. Functional endoscopic sinus surgery has previously been used to address CRS, however, results of previous studies indicated that implant removal is required. There are limited follow-up data available.
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to characterize the long-term outcomes and efficacy of endoscopic sinus surgery for refractory CRS after

BACKGROUND: Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a class of highly stable synthetic organic compounds, have been detected ubiquitously in human biological samples, raising significant concerns about their safety. The aim of this study was to investigate whether PFAS exposure is associated with higher risk of reproductive cancers.
METHODS: Four databases were searched from inception to August 2025. Case-control or cohort studies that examined the association between serum/plasma exposure to five PFAS (perfluorooctanoic acid [PFOA], perfluorooctane sulfonic acid [PFOS], perfluorohexane s

Knowledge of the anatomical course of the anterior maxillary wall and alveolar process arteries is essential for sinus lift procedures. The aim of this study was to analyse the localization of anastomoses between the infraorbital and posterior superior alveolar artery on 101 computed tomography (CT) scans of maxillary sinuses (patients aged 18-70 years). The distance from the anastomosis to the bone point was measured on CT scans for each tooth location; for edentulous patients measurements were made to the lower edge of the alveolar process, and for dentate patients to the neck of the tooth.
