Osseointegrated implant was developed by Professor Brånemark at the University of Göteborg, Sweden (1965). Implant are made from pure titanium (Ti 99.75%, others 0.25%), which are installed into the jaw bone using an osseointegrated method by leaving the fixtures unloaded and isolated for a period of 3 to 4 months in lower jaw bone and for a period of 5 to 6 months in upper jaw bone of totally edentuleus patients. The clinical procedure that produces osseointegration is performed in 2 major treatment stage due to being minimized tissue trauma. The fixture are fitted with a series of screw usin

Non-noble alloys are available for use in the fabrication of cast restorations. These alloys are not necessarily designed for subsequent app … ed of these alloys. In conclusion, the non-noble metals may find increased use in fixed restorative dentistry as expertise develops to the level at which usage of these products becomes routine. These is still considerable clinical information needed as to the durability and corrosion resistance of these alloys. Some work has been work has been done on the …

OBJECTIVE: To identify trends and patterns in the development of civil proceedings in cases related to the quality of dental care provided to the population of the Russian Federation in 2023-2025.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study was based on officially published court decisions of general jurisdiction courts selected using the electronic database of court acts "SudAkt". Civil cases on consumer protection, compensation for damages, and compensation for non-pecuniary damage arising from the improper provision of dental services were analyzed.
RESULTS: The prevalence of disputes related to orth

BACKGROUND: Transformer-based architectures have rapidly gained prominence in medical imaging due to their ability to model long-range dependencies and global contextual information more effectively than convolutional neural networks. In dentistry, their applications have expanded across diagnostic, predictive, and generative tasks, yet no comprehensive synthesis has systematically evaluated their performance and clinical relevance. This systematic review provides an up-to-date assessment of Transformer-based models in dental imaging and diagnostics.
METHODS: A structured search of Medline, E…

The purpose of the work is to study the features of objective assessment of the morpho-functional parameters of teeth and dentition in forensic medical examinations in cases related to aesthetic dental treatment based on the materials of officially published court cases from 2013 to 2024. An analysis of 1005 court cases involving the infliction of harm to health during orthopedic dental treatment using fixed orthopedic structures revealed a significant increase in the number of expert examinations of the results of «aesthetic» dental treatment. In the period from 2013 to 2017, the share of exa

Forensic odontology greatly aids the identification of unknown people, particularly in situations where more conventional techniques like fingerprinting and iris recognition are impractical. This paper examines the increasing significance of dental implants in forensic research, emphasizing their special benefits, such as their resilience to high temperatures, longevity, and capacity to preserve identifying characteristics like batch or serial numbers. The article describes several identification approaches, including DNA profiling, radiographic imaging, lip and palatal print examination, and

ISSUE: General dentists are trained to identify and treat the most common oral conditions and their complications, including dental caries lesions, by restoring tooth structure and function and replacing missing teeth, as well as by treating gingival diseases. However, many senior undergraduate students and junior dentists believe they lack confidence to practice comprehensive clinical dentistry; they may avoid surgical endodontic procedures, orthodontic care, and implant-related cases, for example. The answer, they believe, lies in the imminent need to pursue a specialization to have a succes…

A primary challenge for dentists is maintaining or restoring a balanced oral microbiome, as it plays a significant role in determining oral health and disease states. However, oral diseases such as gingivitis, dental caries, periodontitis and peri-implantitis can occur when pathogenic microbes settle in the oral cavity and become part of the oral biofilm. There are several preventative and therapeutic strategies available today, but the majority of them are centered on antibiotics. Antibiotic stewardship in dentistry might be a helpful strategy to maximize and prevent inappropriate or even nee…

The article discusses the science behind dental lasers and their potential applications across various dental procedures. It provides an overview of the theoretic background, including the principle of stimulated-emission introduced by Einstein and Maiman. The article also touches on the importance of thermal control when using lasers in dental treatments to prevent damage to surrounding tissues. While it notes the increasing interest in laser applications in areas like caries treatment, pediatric dentistry, and endodontics, the article stops short of drawing definitive conclusions, instead pr…

Traditional approaches to health promotion involve clinicians imparting knowledge to patients and 'telling' patients what changes they shoul … ental healthcare settings to enhance general and oral health. The evidence available for its use in dentistry is discussed, along with opportunities for training of the dental team in this skill.

Cell lines and animal models have long been used as essential tools in studies targeting the oral cavity, offering valuable insights into various oral diseases. Each of these research models provides its advantages, such as ease of manipulation in cell lines and the ability to replicate whole-organ interactions in animal models. However, conventional models often have limited native phenotypic features, which do not fully capture the complexity of the human oral cavity. In response to these limitations, organoid technologies have recently been developed and emerged as a promising alternative.

The evaluation of third molar teeth involves careful consideration of the presence, positioning within the jaws, and the adjacent structures. The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons strongly endorses the surgical management of both the erupted and impacted third molars, even in asymptomatic cases, particularly when there is a present or reasonable potential for related pathology. The decision to retain or extract third molars should be approached with careful consideration, taking into account the patient's overall health. Clinical guidelines and public health policies shou

OBJECTIVES: Despite the increasing scientific evidence regarding the application of Cranberries in dentistry, a comprehensive understanding of their potential benefits, active constituents, and mechanisms of action remains lacking. Consequently, this narrative review aims to meticulously analyze and consolidate the existing scientific literature on the utilization of Cranberries for the prevention and treatment of oral diseases.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science) were searched up to October 2025. This review included in vitro, in vivo, and clinica…

Colophony is a solid form of resin derived from coniferous trees that has both adhesive and water-resistant properties. For these reasons, this allergen is incorporated into many personal care products, medications, and occupational materials, and is thus commonly implicated in allergic contact dermatitis. Dedicated "dental" allergen series often include colophony, but dermatologists are likely not well-versed on its use in a dental setting. There are several routes of exposure to colophony via dental materials, including periodontal dressings, cements, and varnishes. Contact with these produc

The use of lasers in dentistry has revolutionized dental procedures, providing signif i cant advantages over traditional techniques. Lasers offer enhanced precision, reduced bleeding, faster healing times, and improved patient comfort. This review explores CO2 lasers, diode lasers, Er, and Er, Cr lasers, and Photobiomodulation and Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT). CO2 Lasers: Introduced in the 1970s, CO2 lasers are ef f ective for soft tissue surgeries such as gingivectomy and frenectomy due to their high water absorption, which allows for precise cutting with minimal damage. They also enhance e…
