PURPOSE: To compare three different types of custom-made root-analog immediate (RAI) dental implants.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients with fractured and/or nonrestorable teeth with uncompromised periodontal ligaments were included in the study. The exclusion criteria were as follows: any uncontrolled systemic disease, bruxism, poor oral hygiene, active periodontal disease, and/or chronic marginal periodontitis. CBCT scans of the teeth were taken, and the datasets were used to reconstruct 3D models that were transferred to 3D modeling software to design the RAIs. Group 1 (GR1) consisted of zir

Restoration of a single-tooth implant in the anterior maxilla requires a multidisciplinary approach throughout the treatment and proper communication between the clinician and laboratory technician. Although surgical procedures have an important role in the manipulation of the soft tissues, it is often necessary to perform final contouring of the soft tissue through the provisionalization stage. Unless the soft tissue contour supports the definitive restoration, the treatment is considered a failure. This article reviews various prosthetic procedures that influence the soft tissue contour and

Different approaches have been proposed for the treatment of retained infra-occluded primary molars with agenesis of permanent successors including extraction with orthodontic space closure, prosthetic replacement, or retention of the primary tooth in situ for space maintenance. The retention of primary second molars in situ represents a conservative treatment option to preserve alveolar bone at the future implant site, and it is especially indicated for young patients who have not completed skeletal growth until later reassessment can determine definitive treatment. Both pressing technology and CAD/CAM methods have proven themselves clinically for the fabrication of all-ceramic restorations. The advantages of the Cerec technology for the economic fabrication of all-ceramic bridges can be exploited by the use of burn-out blanks of polymer material. The milling process of very hard ceramics in the milling unit, which has some disadvantages, is replaced by the pressing process and makes the IPS e.max press material accessible to CAD/CAM users, primarily for extending the range of indications to splinted crowns and small all-ceramic bridges.

BACKGROUND: Transformer-based architectures have rapidly gained prominence in medical imaging due to their ability to model long-range dependencies and global contextual information more effectively than convolutional neural networks. In dentistry, their applications have expanded across diagnostic, predictive, and generative tasks, yet no comprehensive synthesis has systematically evaluated their performance and clinical relevance. This systematic review provides an up-to-date assessment of Transformer-based models in dental imaging and diagnostics.

BACKGROUND: While the nasal fossa and nasopalatine canal are recognized limitations for immediate implants in esthetic areas, the canalis sinuosus (CS) and its branches have been largely overlooked. Neglecting this anatomy can lead to sensory issues, pain, and implant failure underscores the necessity of meticulous pre-surgical assessment and planning to mitigate risks and ensure implant success. This case highlights the need for comprehensive pre-surgical evaluation and precise planning to minimize these complications and ensure successful implant outcomes in this scenario.

AIM: The epidemiological relationship between periodontitis and caries remains controversial, and evidence synthesis is currently lacking. Therefore, this systematic review was designed to answer the following PECO question: 'In human adults (P), do subjects suffering from periodontitis (E) have higher presence/number of untreated carious lesions and caries experience (O) than subjects not suffering from periodontitis (C)?'.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Observational studies that met specific inclusion criteria established to answer to the PECO question were included. Two review authors independent

BACKGROUND: When a tooth is diagnosed with irreversible pulpitis, root canal therapy (RCT) is generally performed to completely remove pulp tissue, which might lead to a higher risk of loss of vascularity, and teeth being more prone to fracture. Vital pulp therapy (VPT) is a personalized method of treating irreversible pulpitis, which conforms to the trend of minimally invasive endodontics. The remaining vital pulp could promote the physiological development of the roots of young permanent teeth with incomplete apical foramen. However, clear guidelines for VPT indication are still missing.

It is common for oral health and dental care to be considered a lesser priority for children with complex medical histories than other aspects of their health care. Often, these patients are at a high risk for caries and infection due to poor oral health practices at home, special or restricted diets, and no early establishment of a dental home for routine dental care. Unfortunately, many of these patients present to their first dental visits with caries and require aggressive treatment, such as extractions instead of pulp therapy, or crowns instead of fillings, due to their high caries risk a

Hereditary gingival fibromatosis (HGF) and amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) are two rare oral conditions with genetic etiologies. The case of a 17-year-old boy affected by HGF, AI, anterior open bite, and pyramidal impaction of the maxillary molars is reported. Internal bevel gingivectomies were carried out to reduce gingival overgrowth. Clinical examination of the family revealed the presence of HGF and AI in his 12-year-old sister (both in milder forms) and of HGF in his older half brother. Genetic sequencing analyses were performed to detect any of the known mutations leading to HGF and AI. His
