Herein, an imidazo-pyridin-derived fluorescent probe ImPy-HS was developed for monitoring the hydrogen sulfide (H2S) level in the water decoction of Chinese medicinal materials. Aluminum phosphide (AlP) is a solid fumigant which is widely used for a suicide attempt in Iran. Although neurologic symptoms are commonly reported, cerebrovascular stenosis is rare in AlP poisoning. A case is presented of a farmer aged 33 years who developed polyarthritis four to five days after having used formaldehyde for fumigation of his piggery. To confirm the main etiological antigen of farmer's lung in Dafeng County, Jiangsu Province, People's Republic of China, precipitins in serum from 30 patients with farmer's lung were tested with several strains of antigens. A study was carried out to assess the effect of 60 ppm and 120 ppm exposure of sulphur dioxide gas for one hour daily for 2 and 4 week on serum sodium(Na+) and potassium (K+) ion concentration in albino rat, Rattus norvegicus (Berkenhout). The present findings reveal that serum sodium (Na+) ion concentration increased significantly after 4 week exposure to 120 ppm of sulphur dioxide, while serum potassium ion (K+) concentration decreased significantly after 4 week exposure to 120 ppm of sulphur dioxide.

This is a report of a case of bird mite infestation which occurred in Wollongong in mid-December 1996. The individual suffered hundreds of bites, most of which were marked by itchy red papules 3-4 mm in diameter. Tiny mobile parasites (< 1 mm) collected from the skin and adjacent bedroom wall were identified as bird mites from the family Gamasidae, most probably from the genus Ornithonyssus.
