Type D personality predicts death or myocardial infarction after bare metal stent or sirolimus-eluting stent implantation: a Rapamycin-Eluting Stent Evaluated at Rotterdam Cardiology Hospital (RESEARCH) registry substudy.

OBJECTIVES: We investigated the effect of Type D personality on the occurrence of adverse events at nine months in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with sirolimus-eluting stents (SESs) or bare stents. Type D patients experience increased negative emotions and tend not to express these emotions in social interactions. BACKGROUND: The SES is a new advent in interventional cardiology that reduces the restenosis rate and the risk of a major adverse cardiac event, but the SES has not been shown to confer any benefits on death or myocardial i

How Middle School Teachers With Different Creative Personality Types Cope With the Challenges of Online Teaching: A Typological Approach.

Teachers worldwide, including those in Taiwan, were compelled to transition from traditional classroom settings to online teaching because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This abrupt shift created numerous challenges. The ways in which individuals cope with such difficulties are closely related to their creative personality traits. Unlike conventional correlational analyses that examine relationships between specific dimensions, a typological approach emphasizes differences among distinct groups across particular variables. This study explored the perceived difficulties and coping strategies of midd

Mediating the role of medical coping styles among psychosocial factors in breast cancer patients with type C personality.

Previous studies have shown that the hope of breast cancer patients is related to the social relational quality, and personality is related to acceptance of disability. However, research is still unclear about the underlying potential psychological mechanisms of various psycho-social factors for this population. This study aims to investigate the impact of breast cancer patients' hope and type C personality on social relational quality and acceptance of disability, and to evaluate the mediating the role of medical coping styles. A total of 141 breast cancer patients during chemotherapy were re

Impact of type D personality on bilevel positive airway pressure compliance and side-effects in sleep apnoea patients.

BACKGROUND: Type D personality, characterised by social inhibition and negative affectivity, has been linked to lower compliance with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and mandibular advancement device treatment, and increased side-effects in obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) patients. Bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) is often prescribed as an alternative when CPAP is poorly tolerated. However, the influence of type D personality on BiPAP compliance and related side-effects has not been studied. Regarding overall treatment success, mean disease alleviation (MDA) must also be cons

Patients' Experiences with and Perceptions of Personalized Glycemic Targets: A Qualitative Descriptive Study of Adults Living with Type 2 Diabetes  .

PURPOSE: Clinical practice guidelines for managing type 2 diabetes (T2D) recommend setting personalized glycemic targets for each patient based on factors such as diabetes duration, life expectancy, comorbidities, complications, and risk of hypoglycemia. This strategy aims to find a balance between the adverse effects of treatment linked to aggressive glycemic control, particularly hypoglycemia, and the potential long-term benefits, such as preventing coronary artery disease. However, there is limited research on patients' experiences with and perceptions of personalized glycemic targets. To a

Characterizing plasma lipid species in metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease in persons with type 1 diabetes.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is the hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome. Hepatic lipotoxicity and inflammation are two key factors driving progression of steatosis to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). The presence of MASH increases the risk of cardiovascular events, cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and non-liver malignancies. Although MASLD and lipid species have been extensively examined in persons with type 2 diabetes, much less is known in type 1 diabetes. We examined the association of key lipid species with MASLD

Personality Type Shapes Acute Anxiety Response to Music and Medicine Intervention During First Chemotherapy (PEGASUS-2).

Music and medicine interventions are recognised for their effects on emotional regulation and stress reduction. However, limited research exists on how these interventions affect anxiety based on personality types, particularly in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of music and medicine interventions on anxiety levels according to personality types in women with breast cancer receiving adjuvant chemotherapy. In a controlled, cross-sectional case-control study, 120 women were randomly assigned to two groups: an intervention group (music and

Feasibility of digital phenotyping based on continuous glucose monitoring to support personalized lifestyle medicine in type 2 diabetes.

OBJECTIVES: Type 2 diabetes is a highly prevalent age-related chronic condition, with complex and heterogeneous pathogenesis. A 5-point oral glucose tolerance test can identify type 2 diabetes subtypes or "diabetypes" based on the degree of insulin resistance in muscle and/or liver, and beta-cell dysfunction. Due to its costly and invasive nature, the oral glucose tolerance test is not scalable. Presuming that differences in glucose and insulin dynamics manifest in continuous glucose monitoring profiles, we explore the potential of continuous glucose metrics to replace the oral glucose toleran

Aetiology of Type 2 diabetes in people with a 'normal' body mass index: testing the personal fat threshold hypothesis.

Weight loss in overweight or obese individuals with Type 2 diabetes (T2D) can normalize hepatic fat metabolism, decrease fatty acid oversupply to β cells and restore normoglycaemia. One in six people has BMI <27 kg/m2 at diagnosis, and their T2D is assumed to have different aetiology. The Personal Fat Threshold hypothesis postulated differing individual thresholds for lipid overspill and adverse effects on β-cell function. To test this hypothesis, people with Type 2 diabetes and body mass index <27kg/m2 (n = 20) underwent repeated 5% weight loss cycles. Metabolic assessments were carried out a
