PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Acquired postinflammatory lentiginosis is a phenomenon that has been previously termed 'induction of lentiginosis in assorted dermatoses' or the ILIAD phenomenon.
RECENT FINDINGS: Although some cases have been described as arising exclusively in those who applied topical calcineurin inhibitors (TCIs), other patients have presented with similar findings in other nonatopic disorders (contact dermatitis, psoriasis, lichen planus, focal dermal hypoplasia), and without antecedent use of TCIs.

A 15-year-old boy had an unusual combination of giant congenital melanocytic nevus on his back and a large speckled lentiginous nevus arranged in a checkerboard pattern on the dorsal and lateral aspects of his trunk. The two pigmentary nevi showed distinguishing features both clinically and histopathologically. The speckled lentiginous nevus was not noted at birth but became visible during childhood. We hypothesize that this uncommon co-occurrence may represent a further example of twin spotting and may be categorized as a new, distinct type of phacomatosis.

Partial unilateral lentiginosis associated with segmental neurofibromatosis is rate. Therefore, we describe here a patient with partial unilateral lentiginosis associated with ipsilateral segmental neurofibromatosis who developed multiple, rice-sized, brown macules on the right side of her face, trunk, and upper arm and several bean-sized, cafe-au-lait spots on the right upper arm and right upper back. To our knowledge, partial unilateral lentiginosis associated with ipsilateral segmental neurofibromatosis has not been reported in the English literature.

This is a case report of multiple lentigines (Leopard Syndrome) with Chiari malformation, i.e. a herniation of the cerebellum into the foramen magnum. This male patient had generalized multiple lentigines since birth, and the lesions spread steadily, involving the scalp but sparing all mucous membranes. Organ system involvements included heart murmur, ocular hypertelorism, and retardation of growth.

It results either from simple activation of matrical melanocytes induced by various factors or from benign (lentigo or naevus) or malignant (melanoma) melanocyte hyperplasia. We have attempted to review virtually all forms of cutaneous and mucocutaneous melanomas. Superficial spreading, lentigo maligna and nodular melanomas have been more thoroughly investigated and documented in previous studies.
