USAGE OF CHLORHEXIDINE AS A FINAL IRRIGANT IN ONE-VISIT ROOT CANAL TREATMENT IN COMPARISON WITH CONVENTIONAL TWO-VISIT ROOT CANAL TREATMENT IN MANDIBULAR MOLARS: A RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL.

OBJECTIVES: The effectiveness of 1-visit root canal treatment (RCT), especially for teeth with large periapical lesions, are still being debated. Although, the use of chlorhexidine (CHX) as a final irrigant have been recommended to provide an optimized approach in 1-visit RCT, there is limited knowledge about the outcome of 1-visit RCT using CHX as the final irrigant. AIM: The aim of this randomized clinical trial was to evaluate the healing of mandibular molar teeth with large periapical lesions after RCT that was completed in 1 visit using 2% CHX as a final irrigant, comparing the results w

Conservative management of double teeth in molar teeth with pulp or periapical disease: a report of five cases and literature review.

BACKGROUND: Double teeth are usually the result of an abnormality in the developing tooth germ. Double teeth can occur in either the primary or permanent dentition, with the majority of cases concerning permanent teeth reported in the anterior teeth and less frequently in the molar teeth. CASE PRESENTATION: This report illustrates five cases of double teeth in molars with pulp and periapical disease, including one case of geminated teeth and four cases of fused teeth. Radiographic findings revealed the presence of extra teeth on the buccal aspect of the molar in five cases, with or without co

[Therapy of chronic apical periodontitis in traumatically injuring front teeth with ongoing root growth].

Because of the patient's age and the width of the apical foramen, conventional or surgical root canal fillings are frequently not indicated for the treatment of chronic apical periodontitis in teeth whose roots have not yet fully grown. Therefore resorbable paste fillings are applied either to induce deposition of apical hard substance or to bridge the time until root canal filling is possible. In a comparative clinical and radiological study in 171 young patients, Walkhoff's iodoform paste and calcium hydroxide were examined with regard to their inductive effect on the formation of an apical

Endodontic treatment of a maxillary first molar having three mesiobuccal canals with the aid of spiral computed tomography: a case report.

Variations in the dental anatomy are found in all teeth. Understanding root canal morphology is one of the most important steps in successful root canal treatment. Thus, during the diagnosis and treatment phases of maxillary molars, a clinician must be aware that anatomical variations exist. The purpose of this study is to present a clinical case of a maxillary first molar having three mesiobuccal canals with separate orifices. This unusual morphology was confirmed by spiral computed tomography (SCT). This article discusses the variations in canal morphology and the role of SCT in successfully

Pulpectomy: immediate root canal filling with calcium hydroxide. Concept and procedures.

From the clinical aspect the endodontic treatment is divided into two groups: (1) teeth with pulp vitality (biopulpectomy) and (2) pulpless teeth (necropulpectomy). The authors point out the necessity of knowing the clinical pathologic conditions and the macroscopic aspect of the dental pulp before endodontic treatment. They describe the clinical procedures that must be performed in cases when the tooth presents pulp vitality (biopulpectomy), emphasizing (1) the necessity of a field of operation in an aseptic condition; (2) the necessity of a noninjuring instrumentation; (3) the use of cytophy

Intrusive luxation: a case report.

Intrusive luxation is one of the most severe types of dental trauma. The occurrence of pulp necrosis in intruded teeth with open apices is 100%. The risk of development of inflammatory or replacement root resorptions is high. Thus, endodontic intervention is required soon after the occurrence of trauma, in an attempt to prevent or delay the appearance of such lesions. On the other hand, the access to the root canal is difficult, as the crown is intruded. A multidisciplinary approach comprising Surgery, Orthodontics and Endodontics is required to allow exposure of the crown, orthodontic extrusi

Ultrastructural evaluation of the apical seal in roots filled with a polycaprolactone-based root canal filling material.

This in vitro study compared the ultrastructural quality of the apical seal achieved with Resilon/Epiphany and gutta-percha/AH Plus. Single-rooted extracted human teeth were prepared using a crown-down technique, debrided with NaOCl and EDTA, and obturated with either Resilon/Epiphany or gutta-percha/AH Plus. They were examined for gaps along canal walls using SEM, and for apical leakage using a transmission electron microscopy (TEM). SEM revealed both gap-free regions, and gap-containing regions in canals filled with both materials. TEM revealed the presence of silver deposits along the seale

Management of Traumatized Teeth With Severely Calcified Canals and Minimally Invasive Access Cavity Using the AReneto® System: A Case Report.

Traumatic injuries to anterior teeth often lead to complications such as calcification and periapical lesions, which frequently necessitate root canal treatment. Traditional methods of preparing access cavities in these cases can compromise the tooth's structural integrity, impacting long-term outcomes. With the advancements in minimally invasive techniques, guided endodontics has emerged as a critical innovation in modern dentistry. This article introduces the AReneto® system, developed by Roots to Cusps® Private Limited, which integrates augmented reality (AR) into endodontic procedures, ena

Evaluation of size variation between endodontic finger spreaders and accessory gutta-percha cones.

The diameter of nine sizes of three brands of endodontic spreaders was measured at D1 and D16 and compared with corresponding sizes of six brands of accessory gutta-percha cones. Two evaluators independently measured 20 randomly selected samples of each size of finger spreader and accessory gutta-percha cone. A standardized method of measurement was used for all samples and the interrater reliability was found to be extremely high using this methodology. Results indicated that very few of the diameters corresponded when like sizes of finger spreaders and accessory gutta-percha cones were compa
