It is assumed that intracellular pathogenic bacteria have to cope with DNA alkylating stress within host cells. Here we use single-cell reporter systems to show that the pathogen Brucella abortus does encounter alkylating stress during the first hours of macrophage infection. A novel chromium-promoted alkyl- and silyl cyclopropanation of (E)- or (Z)-alpha,beta-unsaturated amides in which the C-C double bond is di-, or trisubstituted is described. Haloperidol and phenothiazines are present in psychiatrical treatments. An analysis in body fluids is tedious because of the presence of demethylated (DM) derivatives of phenothiazines.
