The formation of products resulting from the reaction of the zwitterionic intermediate 2 with a second equivalent of isocyanide prior to cyclization to give 3, as well as the direct formation of 4 from 2, is described.

Japanese encephalitis still occurs in endemic and epidemic forms over a wide area of Asia. Although the vaccine against Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is widely used, no antiviral drug has been reported. Spent enzyme immobilisation resins constitute microplastic waste. Here, commercially available C2-amine methacrylate beads are converted into reusable supports through furan decoration and a thermally cleavable Diels-Alder linker bearing an NHS ester. We investigated a novel Cu-catalyzed annulation of 2,3-allenoic acids with diphenylphosphine oxide, leading to the formation of 4-phosphate butenolides in up to 88% yield. The formation of the C-P bond provides new avenues for the functionalization of different furan-2(5H)-ones, with favorable features such as suitable functional group tolerance and mild synthesis conditions.

This study represented the first comprehensive investigation into the phytochemical profile and anti-inflammatory properties of S. affinis fruit. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are promising materials for photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production.
