Twenty-three patients with Kennedy Class I mandibular dentition were supplied with prostheses in the posterior parts of the mandible. On one side they were given a prosthesis supported by two implants (prosthesis Type I) and on the other side they received a prosthesis supported by one implant and one natural tooth (prosthesis Type II). Between 1987 and 2005, 165 patients with rheumatoid arthritis of the elbow, four with psoriatic arthritis, and eight with osteoarthrosis of the elbow were treated with total elbow arthroplasty using 126 semiconstrained GSB III elbow replacement prostheses; 46 semiconstrained Coonrad-Morrey prostheses; 24 Souter-Strathclyde unconstrained, unlinked prosthesis; four constrained link hinge prostheses; two custom-made prostheses; and one Pritchard elbow replacement. CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE: Osseointegrated implants have acquired an important role in the prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with craniofacial defects. The main indications are lack of local tissue for autogenous reconstruction, previous reconstruction failure and selection of this technique by the patient. This clinical report describes the prosthetic rehabilitation of a 59-year-old edentulous woman with pemphigus vulgaris using implant-supported fixed prostheses. The treatment involved the placement of endosseous dental implants with cone beam computed tomography guided planning, followed by multiunit abutments and screw-retained prostheses. At the 3-year follow-up, the patient had experienced significant improvement in health, esthetics, and function, with stable implants and minimal bone loss.
