UNLABELLED: Although the first studies on EUS in portal hypertension are by now dated approximately 20 years ago, this method still has not become a routine examination among the diagnostic and therapeutic examinations in this field. The case of the patient surgically treated for diagnosed pancreatic insulinoma is reported. Pancreatic insulinomas are the most often diagnosed hormonally active tumors of pancreas. They are small in size, localized evenly in the head, body or tail of pancreas. Their precise location is not easy. This case confirms that the preoperative localization of the tumor is very difficult and preoperative image tests often fail. The performance of intraoperative ultrasonography (IOUS) led to the visualization of the tumor and the curative surgery.

We report a case of chronic gastric volvulus in which ultrasonography (US) was useful. An 81-year-old woman was hospitalized due to vomiting, and upper gastroduodenoscopy revealed that the stomach was spirally twisted and constricted. An upper gastrointestinal barium study demonstrated an organoaxial-mesenteroaxial combined type gastric volvulus. A 67 year-old man was admitted to the Tainan Municipal Hospital due to a protruding mass, usually noted during defecation. Digital examination revealed a single, smooth, large mass over the rectum, occupying almost the entire lumen. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of ultrasonography in breast cancer screening. 350 Bilateral ultrasound (US) were performed in 350 asymptomatic patients with dense breasts. 7.5, 10 And 13 MHz transducers were used (Esaote Biomedica, Italy). In 185/350 patients, sonograms were normal, abnormalities were seen in 165/350: cysts (117), solid nodules (44) and mixed echogenicity nodules (4). All but two solid lesions were benign. This article presents a case of occult spontaneous uterine rupture complicated by pelvic infection and peritonitis in the postpartum period. Ultrasonography played a primary role in the diagnosis of this complication and clearly demonstrated the uterine wall defect. This finding was confirmed later by computed tomography and by surgery.

Real time B-scan ultrasonography was utilised on 318 eyes of 298 patients for evaluation of 285 (90%) eyes with opaque media; three (1%) eyes, with clear media but suspected intraocular abnormalities and for proptosis in 30 (9%) cases. Ultrasonography was found to be a valuable investigation in the assessment and management of Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease (LCPD). It was used to assess 23 patients with LCPD in 25 affected hips and was compared with radiographs obtained at the same time. The diagnosis of post traumatic optic nerve avulsion is often obscured by the presence of concomitant vitreous haemorrhage. Electrodiagnostic tests, CT scan and fluorescein angiography have not proved helpful in substantiating the diagnosis of this entity in the early stages. We herein present the echographic features in a case of post traumatic optic nerve avulsion that, to the best of our knowledge, have not been previously described. The role of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of suspected optic nerve head avulsion has been high-lighted.
