[Diagnosis of acute cerebral infarction using diffusion-weighted imaging by low field (0.2 T) magnetic resonance image].

The purpose of this study is to confirm the diagnosis of acute cerebral infarction on diffusion-weighted imaging using low field (0.2 T) magnetic resonance image(MRI). Acute cerebral infarctions in 51 patients were examined on diffusion-weighted imaging using low field MRI within 48 hours after clinical symptoms. Diffusion-weighted imaging was examined using line scan method. Twenty-four cases were cortical infarction, and twenty-two cases were perforating infarction. In five cases out of 51 cases, ischemic regions were not detected as abnormal high signal intensity area on diffusion-weighted

Early detection of cerebral infarction and hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy in neonates using diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging.

Twelve newborn infants with clinical evidence of hypoxic ischemic brain injury had conventional and diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performed one to six (median two) days and 7-42 days after birth. The extent and conspicuity of the early abnormalities was greater with diffusion-weighted than with conventional imaging in each of the four infants with neonatal infarction and in four of the infants with Grades II or III hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). No abnormality was seen with either technique in the other four infants who had Grades I or II HIE. Diffusion weighted M

Diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging in the grading of liver fibrosis associated with congenital ductal plate malformations.

PURPOSE: Liver biopsy is still the standard method for the diagnosis of ductal plate malformations (DPM). However, it is an invasive tool. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has shown its accuracy in the diagnosis of this pathology. Herein, a study was conducted to elucidate the role of diffusion MRI parameters in predicting the degree of hepatic fibrosis. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This prospective study included 29 patients with DPM and 20 healthy controls. Both groups underwent diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging (DT-MRI), and its parameters were compared between patients and controls, an

Exploring in vivo placental microstructure in healthy and growth-restricted pregnancies through diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging.

INTRODUCTION: Gross and microstructural changes in placental development can influence placental function and adversely impact fetal growth and well-being; however, there is a paucity of invivo tools available to reliably interrogate in vivo placental microstructural development. The objective of this study is to characterize invivo placental microstructural diffusion and perfusion in healthy and growth-restricted pregnancies (FGR) using non-invasive diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). METHODS: We prospectively enrolled healthy pregnant women and women whose pregnancies were complicated by FGR.

Fixel-Based Diffusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging Reveals Novel Associations Between White Matter Microstructure and Childhood Aggressive Behavior.

BACKGROUND: Childhood aggression has been linked to white matter abnormalities, but research has been inconsistent with regard to both regions of alterations and directionality of the associations. We examined white matter microstructure correlates of aggression using a novel diffusion imaging analysis technique, fixel-based analysis, which leverages connectivity and crossing-fiber information to assess fiber bundle density. METHODS: The sample included 70 children with aggressive behavior and 25 healthy control children without aggressive behavior. Aggression was measured by the parent-rated

White Matter Microstructure Breakdown in the Motor Neuron Disease Spectrum: Recent Advances Using Diffusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Motor neuron disease (MND) is a fatal progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the breakdown of the motor system. The clinical spectrum of MND encompasses different phenotypes classified according to the relative involvement of the upper or lower motor neurons (LMN) and the presence of genetic or cognitive alterations, with clear prognostic implications. However, the pathophysiological differences of these phenotypes remain largely unknown. Recently, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been recognized as a helpful in-vivo MND biomarker. An increasing number of studies is applyi

Value of diffusion-weighted imaging when added to magnetic resonance enterographic evaluation of Crohn disease in children.

BACKGROUND: MR enterography is increasingly utilized for noninvasive evaluation of disease activity in young patients with Crohn disease and has great impact on clinical management. Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is a rapid MR imaging technique that measures molecular diffusion of water and is sensitive to the inflammatory process; however, its value to MR enterography has not been rigorously evaluated. OBJECTIVE: To determine whether the addition of DWI to MR enterography is helpful in evaluating Crohn disease activity in young patients when compared to a histological reference. MATERIALS
