Primary Care Interventions to Address COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Among Israel Defense Forces Soldiers.

Vaccine hesitancy is an obstacle to achieving high vaccination rates for COVID-19. Current knowledge on vaccine uptake is mostly based on hypothetical intention to vaccinate surveys. We compared intention to vaccinate and real-world vaccine uptake among 511 soldiers in a military unit during an unrestricted, on-site COVID-19 vaccine rollout. Soldiers were offered group lectures, on-site consultations and primary care office visits, discussing concerns on vaccination with a primary care physician. Overall, 359 (70.3%) soldiers participated in the group lectures, 33 (6.5%) in on-site consultatio

COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in an ethnically diverse community: descriptive findings from the Born in Bradford study.

Background: The roll out of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines are underway in the UK, and ensuring good uptake in vulnerable communities will be critical to reducing hospital admissions and deaths. There is emerging evidence that vaccine hesitancy is higher in ethnic minorities and deprived areas, and that this may be caused by distrust and misinformation in the community. This study aims to understand COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in an ethnically diverse and deprived population of Bradford through the Born in Bradford (BiB) research programme. Methods: Surveys were sent to parents in

Compliance Indicators of COVID-19 Prevention and Vaccines Hesitancy in Kenya: A Random-Effects Endogenous Probit Model.

Vaccine hesitancy remains a major public health concern in the effort towards addressing the COVID-19 pandemic. This study analyzed the effects of indicators of compliance with preventive practices on the willingness to take COVID-19 vaccines in Kenya. The data were from the COVID-19 Rapid Response Phone Surveys conducted between January and June 2021 during the fourth and fifth waves. The data were analyzed with the random-effects endogenous Probit regression model, with estimated parameters tested for robustness and stability. The results showed that willingness to take vaccines increased be

In-hospital and web-based intervention to counteract vaccine hesitancy in very preterm infants' families: a NICU experience.

BACKGROUND: Vaccine hesitancy is a global problem, carrying significant health risks for extremely vulnerable population as that of preterm infants. Social media are emerging as significant tools for public health promotion. Our aim was to evaluate both the coverage and the timeliness of routine immunizations in a cohort of preterm infants (< 33 weeks of gestational age) at 24 months of age whose families have been subjected to in-hospital and web-based interventions to counteract vaccine hesitancy. METHODS: For a period of 2 years parents of preterm infants were instructed during their follo

Social and cultural construction processes involved in HPV vaccine hesitancy among Chinese women: a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: HPV vaccine is a prophylactic vaccine to prevent HPV infections. Recommended by the World Health Organization, this vaccine is clinically proven to be one of the most effective preventive measures against the prevalence of cervical cancer and other HPV-associated cancers and chronic genital conditions. However, its uptake rate among women in Hong Kong is insignificant-only approximately 2.9% adolescent girls and 9.7% female university students received HPV vaccination in 2014. With the notion of Critical Medical Anthropology, we aimed to identify if different influential factors, r

Untangling the Roots of HPV Vaccine Acceptance in West Virginia: How Hesitancy and Misinformation Shape Parental Decisions.

BACKGROUND: West Virginia is of particular concern regarding HPV vaccine hesitancy, currently ranking 45th among U.S. states in HPV vaccine uptake. General vaccine hesitancy and HPV- and HPV vaccine-specific misinformation, both associated with lower vaccination, have increased in recent years, complicating efforts to identify key drivers of HPV vaccine acceptance and effective intervention targets. METHODS: This study used a Qualtrics survey of n = 330 parents of children aged 0-14 in West Virginia. Measures included parental HPV vaccine acceptance for their youngest child (reflecting either

What drives adult vaccine hesitancy? Content and face validation of a new measure for U. S. Adults.

BACKGROUND: Vaccine hesitancy is viewed as a complex interaction of behavioral and societal factors that can intervene in the uptake of vaccines or lack thereof. To date, no existing instrument developed for the U. S. adult population measures general vaccine hesitancy in a way that integrates behavioral and cognitive determinants and generalizes across vaccines rather than targeting a specific disease. The development of this tool will be useful for clinicians to counsel patients on vaccination and for vaccine related public health interventions targeted at improving population health. METHO

Who Do You Trust? Demographic Patterns in Vaccine Hesitancy among Older Adults in a Rural State.

Older adults are at increased risk for complications from vaccine-preventable diseases, yet many remain undervaccinated. This study examined demographic variability in vaccination hesitancy among older adults in a rural state and the potentially mediating role of trust uncertainty. A cross-sectional survey of a random sample of 739 adults aged 65+ in North Dakota was conducted from May to July 2022. Using bootstrapped mediation analyses, we assessed whether trust uncertainty mediated the relationships between demographic characteristics and vaccine hesitancy and acceptance. Results showed unce…

MMR vaccine hesitancy in a polarized information ecosystem: Results from a cross-sectional survey of US adults.

OBJECTIVES: To characterize MMR vaccine hesitancy in US adults amid the 2025 measles outbreaks, with specific focus on the role of an individual's media habits. METHODS: We conducted an online panel survey in August 2025, with 2970 US-based, English-speaking adults (≥18 yrs). We conducted bivariate analyses with chi-square tests to characterize differences between hesitant and non-hesitant adults. We used logistic regression modeling to identify factors associated with MMR hesitancy. RESULTS: Overall, 17% (n = 501) of adults believed the risks of MMR outweighed the benefits. Most adults enga

Investigating the link between COVID-19 misinformation exposure and vaccine hesitancy through perceptions of efficacy and unsafety.

BACKGROUND: Misinformation has played a significant role in shaping public attitudes toward COVID-19 vaccines, contributing to vaccine hesitancy. This study examines the relationship between misinformation exposure and vaccine hesitancy, focusing on the mediating roles of perceived vaccine safety and efficacy. Additionally, it explores how trust in misinformation influences these relationships. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted between March and May 2021 across four university campuses in the southeastern United States (N = 819). Participants (Mean age = 20.55, SD = 2.85) were p

Factors associated with COVID-19 vaccine uptake and hesitancy among healthcare workers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Vaccination is a critical intervention to reduce morbidity and mortality and limit strain on health systems caused by COVID-19. The slow pace of COVID-19 vaccination uptake observed in some settings raises concerns about COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy. The Democratic Republic of the Congo experienced logistical challenges and low uptake at the start of vaccine distribution, leading to one of the lowest overall COVID-19 vaccine coverage rates in the world in 2021. This study assessed the magnitude and associated factors of COVID-19 vaccine uptake among healthcare workers (HCWs) in seven provinces i
