OBJECTIVE: To update the clinical characteristics of mycosis fungoides in Chinese patients.
METHOD: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 51 patients (29 men and 22 women) with mycosis fungoides in PUMC hospital from 1984 to 2006, to determine the ages at diagnosis, clinicopathologic characteristics of skin lesions, systemic manifestation, misdiagnosis and treatment of these patients.

The persistent venous hypertension is the primary cause of venous ulcer, and leukocyte activation plays an important role in the formation of venous ulcer. Venous ulcer should be differentiated from ulcers resulted from other diseases. Treatment options include conservative/medical therapies and surgical therapies. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of the monotherapy of 15 agents in treating essential hypertension.
METHODS: After 2-week wash-out, a total of 370 patients with seated diastolic blood pressure 95-114 mmHg and seated systolic blood pressure < 180 mmHg were randomized to different therapeutic groups. 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring was performed before medication and at the end of 8 weeks.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the feasibility of endovascular stent-graft prostheses in treating acute transaction of thoracic aorta. (TAT) METHODS: A patient with injury from a car accident was diagnosed by computed tomography angiography (CTA) , and then treated by endovascular therapy immediately.
RESULTS: After treatment, symptoms such as chest pain and shortness of breath were improved, hemoglobin became normal, and no complication was found. CTA revealed that stent-graft was located in a satisfactory position, and subclavian artery was clearly demonstrated 6 months later.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the feasibility of using single cell fluorescent polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in the preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).
METHOD: Single buccal cell genetic analysis was performed with fluorescent PCR of linked microsatellite D16S423, followed by electrophoresis on ABI 3730.
RESULT: The amplification success rate, allele dropout rate, and diagnostic accuracy rate of the single cell fluorescent PCR were 93.3%, 10.7%, and 89.3%, respectively.
CONCLUSION: Single cell fluorescent PCR is a stable and reliable approach for the PGD.
