Triglyceride-glucose index is associated with cerebral small vessel disease-related motor impairment in Parkinson's disease: a mediation analysis.

BACKGROUND: Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) may worsen motor and cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease (PD), yet whether peripheral metabolic inflammation mediates this link remains unclear. The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a surrogate for insulin resistance, has been associated with CSVD and neurodegeneration. This study examined whether the TyG index statistically accounts for the association between CSVD burden and motor or cognitive deficits in PD. METHODS: This retrospective cross-sectional study enrolled 362 PD patients. The 4-point scale assessed CSVD burden. Movement D

Illness perceptions and symptom burden in chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy: a moderated mediation analysis from a self-regulatory perspective.

PURPOSE: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a prevalent and often persistent adverse effect that contributes to substantial symptom burden and psychological distress among cancer survivors. However, the self-regulatory mechanisms linking patients' illness perceptions to these outcomes remain poorly understood. Guided by the Common-Sense Model of self-regulation, this study examined whether positive coping mediates the associations between illness perceptions and CIPN-related symptom burden and psychological distress, and whether mindfulness moderates these pathways. METHODS:

Physical exercise and social media addiction among adolescents: a chain mediation analysis of cognitive flexibility and negative attention bias.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Physical Exercise (PE) is associated with multiple aspects of adolescent psychological and cognitive functioning. Cognitive Flexibility (CF) and Negative attention bias (NAB) may help explain the association between PE and Social Media Addiction (SMA), yet their joint indirect roles remain insufficiently examined. This study tested a cross-sectional serial indirect-effects model linking PE, CF, NAB, and SMA among Chinese adolescents. METHODS: A self-reported survey was conducted among 3,375 adolescents in China, collecting data on PE, SMA, CF, NAB, and demographic v

Parental teasing and body dissatisfaction in White and South Asian females: An exploratory cross-sectional analysis using moderated mediation.

Parental weight-related teasing can be associated with body dissatisfaction among children and adolescents. Though this relationship is frequently observed among White females, limited research has been conducted with other ethnic groups. Previous research has demonstrated a strong link between familial factors and psychosocial functioning in South Asian females. Therefore, it may be the case that similar associations between parental weight teasing and body dissatisfaction can be found in this population. A sample of 352 young adult females, comprising 58.7% White and 42.3% South Asian, all C
