In a series covering 1177 right-handed and 93 left-handed schizophrenic individuals, the author elicited the age of the patients at the onset of disease and correlated different forms of the disease course. Using clinical procedures and psychological tests, the authors studied intellectual and emotional characteristics in 75 patients with nonpsychotic forms of psychic pathology caused by chronic circulatory insufficiency in the vertebro-basilar system. A clinical description of Type I and II Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in a 3-year-old girl and a 19-year-old boy is presented. The syndrome is characterized by skin hyperelasticity, articular overextensibility, hemorrhagic manifestations and also by excessive vulnerability of tissues. Clinical descriptions are supplemented with roentgenologic, morphologic and electron microscopic findings as well as with the results of amino-acid analysis and of dermatoglyphic examination of the patient and her parents.

The presented description of two cases of sporadic distal myopathy represents the first report on this disease published in the national literature. The personality characteristics of gynecological patients with hormonal dysfunction versus hormone dependent pathology were compared, using a factorial analysis of answers to 377 questions of the Russian modified variant of MMPI and a cluster analysis of intergroup subdivisions. A group of patients with uterine myoma (UM) differed considerably from all the others in relation to six "varimax" factors. The authors analyze the efficacy and side effects of prednisolone administered to 600 patients for myasthenia and polymyositis in a dose of 0.8 to 1.5 mg per kg body weight every other day for a period ranging from 3 months to 10 years. The excitability of spinal alpha-motoneurons was studied by assessing the monosynaptic H-reflex and the "intensity-duration" curve in 77 patients with neurologic syndromes of lumbar osteochondrosis (lumboischialgia, paralytic ischias, radicular and caudal syndromes) and in 18 practically healthy individuals. The excitability of alpha-motoneurons was found to be elevated in lumboischialgia and decreased in paralytic ischias, radicular and especially caudal syndromes. These changes play an important role in the mechanism of the development of motor disorders.
