Neonatal skull depressions may occur from traumatic delivery or abnormal intrauterine position. Surgery has been recommended when the condition is thought to threaten neurologic development; however, normal neurologic outcomes have been observed in conservatively managed infants. Four cases of neonatal listeriosis issued from the same maternity during the period of ten days are reported in this paper. Three newborns suffered from a delayed listeriosis meningitic form with complete recovery. The fourth newborn suffered from early septicemic form and died. This is a new observation of post-natal cross infection with listeria monocytogenes in the same maternity. The reported cases remain rare up to now, although this is a classic notion.

OBJECTIVE: We describe a case of chronic pulmonary hypertension in a 7-wk-old infant with congenital diaphragmatic hernia and an oral teratoma. Our patient was dependent on low-dose inhaled nitric oxide and was still very unstable with systemic right ventricular pressures leading to frequent oxygen desaturations. We administered sildenafil therapy to stabilize the infant with discontinuation of inhaled nitric oxide. We describe successful discontinuation of the inhaled therapy as well as a period of stabilization and improvement with continued sildenafil administration.

Idiopathic postneonatal apnea is defined here as a sudden, unexpected attack of apnea that first occurs after the infant has been discharged from the neonatal nursery to his home.
