Patient and healthcare provider perspectives on treatment patterns and patient satisfaction of seborrheic dermatitis in the United States.

INTRODUCTION: Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) affects a large, diverse population and is associated with significant morbidity/burden. METHODS: The Harris Poll conducted online surveys to understand the perceptions, preferences, and experiences regarding treatments of US patients with SD and dermatology healthcare providers (HCPs) from December 2021 to January 2022. RESULTS: In this survey, patients using SD treatment invested on average 34 min/d treating SD with 5.9 different treatments/week (cost: ∼$650/year). HCPs underestimated duration of SD treatment (16 min/d). Most patients agreed current

Patient satisfaction and patient-reported outcome measures after primary ankle arthrodesis: 2-year results from the Swedish Ankle Registry.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Ankle arthrodesis (AA) and total ankle replacement are the 2 main surgical treatment options for advanced ankle arthritis but information is scarce on satisfaction and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) after surgery. We aimed to evaluate postoperative satisfaction, changes in PROMs from before to 2 years after AA, and factors associated with the outcome. METHODS: This is a national registry-based observational study using the Swedish Ankle Registry. We identified 1,145 patients who underwent AA between 2008 and 2020 who answered a question on satisfaction, and

Clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction following implant removal after open wedge high tibial osteotomy.

PURPOSE: Symptoms of implant-associated irritation have been reported as a complication of open wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO). While some centers perform implant removal only when such complications occur, others routinely perform implant removal. However, the benefits of implant removal after OWHTO have not yet been clarified. The purpose of this study was to evaluate patient satisfaction with implant removal after OWHTO and to investigate the benefits of implant removal. METHODS: We prospectively enrolled 40 consecutive patients who underwent implant removal after OWHTO between August…

Analysis and Improvement of Factors Affecting Satisfaction of Patients with Postoperative Patient-Controlled Analgesia.

Patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) is widely used for postoperative pain management, yet patient satisfaction remains influenced by multiple clinical and educational factors. Identifying modifiable determinants may help optimize postoperative analgesic care. To evaluate postoperative pain management and satisfaction with postoperative PCA, identify factors associated with patient satisfaction, and propose improvement strategies. A total of 887 patients who underwent surgery and received postoperative PCA between January 2023 and April 2024 were retrospectively enrolled. Satisfaction was assess…

Beyond Flap Survival: Aesthetic Satisfaction and Patient-Reported Outcomes in Microsurgical Lower Limb Reconstruction.

BACKGROUND: Traditional measures of success in lower limb reconstruction have focused on flap survival, often overlooking aesthetic and patient-reported outcomes. However, postoperative dissatisfaction with contour, colour, and donor site appearance remains common. This study aimed (1) to retrospectively assess aesthetic outcomes and revision rates after lower limb reconstruction and (2) to evaluate patient-reported aesthetic satisfaction using a dedicated questionnaire. METHODS: A single-surgeon cohort of 73 patients who underwent lower limb reconstruction was analysed. Demographics, reconst

Comparing keystone and Limberg flaps for pilonidal sinus: Does flap choice influence patient satisfaction?

BACKGROUND: Pilonidal sinus disease (PSD) is a chronic condition that mainly affects young adults impairing the quality of life. Among several surgical options, flap reconstruction offers faster healing and lower recurrence. This randomized comparative study evaluated the keystone perforator island flap (KSF) versus the Limberg flap (LF) in PSD repair, focusing primarily on patient satisfaction depending on the flap type, alongside perioperative outcomes following PS excision as secondary outcomes. METHODS: A total of 50 patients with simple PSD were randomized equally to undergo KSF or LF re…

This study addresses the criteria for day-case surgery, patient selection, reported clinical risks versus benefits, complications, rates of readmission and patient satisfaction. METHODS: A literature review was carried out in PubMed and Medline for day-case appendicectomy, patient safety, day case surgery and National Health Service. Patient-reported aesthetic satisfaction and nasal function following primary rhinoplasty: A retrospective observational study.

BACKGROUND: Patient-reported outcomes are central to rhinoplasty evaluation, but evidence from Kurdish and Middle Eastern populations remains limited. METHODS: This retrospective questionnaire-based observational study included 400 patients who had undergone primary rhinoplasty at least 12 months earlier. This prospective comparative study included patients who underwent multiple cosmetic procedures in a single surgical session. The study aimed to assess patient satisfaction regarding pain management and the extent of analgesic use. It included patients who underwent at least two procedures: abdominoplasty, breast surgery, liposuction of the abdomen, liposuction of the back, and buttock lipofilling. The patients were divided into two groups: the case group, which received more than one type of block: erector spinae plane, pectoral nerve, or transversus abdominis plane block, and the control gro…

Determinants of patient satisfaction in clozapine users: results from the Clozapine International Consortium (CLOZIN).

Clozapine is highly effective for treatment-resistant schizophrenia but is underutilized due to patient and clinician-related concerns. Little is known about the general level of patient satisfaction with clozapine and determinants thereof. We therefore explored determinants of patient satisfaction with clozapine in individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSDs). Cross-sectional data from 480 clozapine users were used to examine demographic and clinical factors, including symptom severity, treatment response, and adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Patient satisfaction was self-…
