We owe to N.G. Kock and to M. Camey the extraordinary recent development of continent urinary diversion and of bladder replacement. During sixty-six months, 145 Kock pouches were constructed: 79 for continent cutaneous diversion (44 men, 35 women), 54 bladder replacements by men, 12 ileo-rectal diversions (10 women, 2 men). The mortality during the six first postoperative weeks reaches 6/145 patients (4.13%). 17 patients out of c139 (12.23%) presented postoperative complications; 15 patients required surgical revision (10.70%)(10 intestinal obstructions).

Verrucous carcinoma (VC) is a very rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix, difficult to point out in histology because of its benign appearance. We present the case of a 29-year-old woman with a locally advanced cervical VC who underwent radiotherapy followed by radical hysterectomy. We describe a case of repair of the antegrade anastomosis between the "ileal segment" and amputated ureter for recurrent rectal cancer, in which some postoperative complications occurred but eventually resolved. If the length of the ureter is inadequate for end-to-end anastomosis, an ileal segment can be used as a conduit. This surgical technique is not difficult because an ileal conduit is typically created during total pelvic exenteration of rectal cancers. Malignant tumours of the male urethra are rare and commonly present at an advanced stage. The most common type of urethral cancer is urothelial carcinoma, followed by squamous cell carcinoma. In a series of 198 exenterative operations performed at the Mayo Clinic for various pelvic malignant lesions, a 5 year survival rate of 33 per cent was obtained. This rate is commendable, since almost 80 per cent of the operations were accomplished for recurrent malignancy. Forty-nine patients underwent preoperative cystoscopy prior to surgical resection for adenocarcinoma of the rectum. There were 30 men and 19 women ranging in age from 26 to 78 years, with a median age of 59 years.
