PURPOSE: To describe a small incision technique for the removal of a nylon foil orbital wall implant.
METHODS: The authors retrospectively reviewed the charts of 9 patients who underwent a minimally invasive anterior orbitotomy for nylon foil explantation. Indications for removal and surgical technique, including size of orbitotomy incision and extent of orbital dissection, were recorded. Motility, globe position, strabismus pre- and post procedure, and complications were also assessed. Photographs, videos, and postoperative imaging were included, when available.

We have used the pelvic Hoffmann technique successfully on two patients requiring flap coverage and have had no difficulty with its management nor complications with the pelvic pin fixation. We feel that this type of fixation provides significant advantages for the treatment of hand and forearm injuries requiring flap coverage for avulsing injuries to the hand and wrist.

The authors present a new fixation system constituted by reabsorbable mini-staples in poly-L-lactic acid, the use of which is proposed for Akin osteotomies. An initial cohort of 25 cases (23 patients), with a mean follow-up of 16 months (minimum 6 months, maximum 30 months) is presented. Posterior cruciate ligament avulsion fracture injuries have been associated with an increased risk of meniscal tears and premature patellofemoral/medial compartment osteoarthritis. Sports-related trauma is a common cause of posterior cruciate ligament avulsion fractures. Surgical management is recommended for displaced bony avulsion of the posterior cruciate ligament to stabilize the knee and prevent knee pain, nonunion, and osteoarthritis progression.
