We studied a total of 105 women in late pregnancy in intervals of 2 to 4 weeks. At each prenatal visit we asked about the frequency of coital activity during the last 2 weeks, and took a vaginal smear for gram-staining. The frequency of coitus decreased with advancing gestational age. After 35 weeks, 42% of gravidae still reported coitus, one fourth of them with a frequency of more than 2 times per week. Urethral coitus in women with a normal vagina and introitus has very rarely been reported. We report the case of a 48-year-old gravida 5, para 5 woman with a history of urethral coitus complaining of urinary incontinence. To the best of our knowledge, our patient is the fifth reported case of urethral coitus with normal genitalia, and it might be accepted as the first reported case of urethral coitus in a multiparous woman.

The prevalence of sexually transmitted disease (STD), pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), and cervical cancer, and the relation between these conditions were studied in 2111 Ethiopian women. Early sexual activity was associated with an increase in prevalence rates of STD and PID; possible aetiological factors include physical and immunological immaturity of the female genital tract and the number of sexual partners.

Data were analyzed from 36,068 U.S. pregnancies to determine whether any of the more frequent maternal risk factors are associated with seasonal variations in perinatal mortality rates. These mortality rates decreased below the yearly mean in January and rose sharply above the mean during the spring.
