In this paper we discuss trauma, osteomyelitis, fibrous dysplasia, Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease and osteopetrosis in children. Pathophysiology, incidence, clinical signs, diagnosis and specific trteatment of these diseases are described. Fibrous dysplasia of bone is a congenital, sporadic developmental disorder characterized by immature fibrous connective tissue and bone deformities. The early, predictable, onset of spontaneous autoimmune thyroiditis (SAT) in Obese strain (OS) chickens provides a unique opportunity to analyse the mechanisms initiating autoimmunity which is virtually impossible to obtain in humans. AIM: Anterior cervical fusion procedures are among the most commonly performed spinal operations. Investigators have reported pseudoarthrosis rates ranging from 3 to 36% following anterior cervical fusion operations. The diagnosis of pseudoarthrosis has been based on the triad of pain, radiographic evidence of instability, and loss of correction or fixation. Scintigraphic imaging may be involved in pseudoarthrosis investigation by increase of nuclear agent uptake at the operated level but today it is not used in clinical practice as a routine imaging modality.

We report on a 19-year-old woman with a rapidly growing, solid variant of aneurysmal bone cyst (solid ABC) in the right part of the lateral mass of the sacrum. On admission, the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan disclosed an inhomogeneous low intensity mass right of the centre of the os sacrum with a diameter of 38 x 64 mm and a height of 56 mm on T1 and T2 weighted images. Several implant materials used in dental and orthopedic surgery were placed in rat tibial bones to study their effects on mineralization. The implants consisted of bone bonding and non-bonding materials. We describe findings of intramedullary fat necrosis on five imaging studies in a patient with alcoholic pancreatitis. Radiography and CT of extremities showed multiple osteolytic lesions that were initially considered to be metastases. The aim of this study is to determine the sacroiliac index (SII) of healthy subjects and to compare these values with patients having sacroiliitis (SI). Quantitative sacroiliac scintigraphy (QSS) was performed with Tc-99m hydroxy methylene diphosphonate (HMDP) and whole sacroiliac joint-to-sacrum ratio was calculated as a SII by the region of interest (ROI) method.
