Extracorporeal perfusion of toxic blood via carbonic sorbents is an effective method for correcting severe disturbances of hemostasis. INTRODUCTION: Psychotropic drug intoxication may require urgent management. Hemoadsorption (HA) may detoxify blood in such cases, but its effect has not been quantified.
METHODS: We studied in vivo removal of valproate, quetiapine, and escitalopram with HA using the Jafron HA380 cartridge in six sheep. We measured the removal ratio (RR) and clearance (CL) of each agent over time.

Case history: Two dogs presented separately to the Small Animal Hospital, University of Florida (Gainsville, FL, USA) for ingestion of ibuprofen. The first dog ingested 561.8 mg/kg ibuprofen in addition to paracetamol and caffeine and vomited prior to admission. In 14 children with purulent septic diseases, the method of biohemosorption with the use of a porcine spleen was used. In 13 children, the treatment was effective. One child with bilateral uretherohydronephrosis, pyonephrosis, urosepsis, signs of aggravating polyorganic failure died. The data obtained are indicative of the expediency to use biohemosorption for treatment of children with purulent septic diseases.

Examined were 233 patients with acute peritonitis. In patients, who underwent the conventional intensive infusion therapy alone, in complicated course of the postoperative period, within 28 days, the high level of pathologic stress reactions was observed, which correlated with changes in the content of middle molecular mass peptides (MMMP). A man inadvertently ate a whole root of the highly poisonous water hemlock (Cicuta virosa L.) plant. The chief symptoms were convulsions, unconsciousness, reddish tinted cyanosis, dilated pupils and marked metabolic acidosis.
