INTRODUCTION: Extensively drug resistant (XDR) strains of the Salmonella lineages have been reported to spread from Africa to South Asia. XDR strains are resistant to fluoroquinolones, chloramphenicol, co-trimoxazole, and ampicillin, resulting in treatment failure. The objectives of this study included the investigation of transmission of S. Hospital wastewater can contaminate the environment with antibiotic-resistant and virulent bacteria. We analyzed wastewater samples from four hospitals in Ardabil province, Iran for Enterococcus faecium and Enterococcus faecalis using culture and molecular methods. We also performed antimicrobial susceptibility testing and polymerase chain reaction testing for resistance and virulence genes. Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH) is a clinical condition characterized by the rapid onset of dyspnea, hemoptysis and acute respiratory failure (ARF). It is commonly caused by autoimmune systemic vasculitis, pulmonary infections, drugs and tumors. Here, we report a case of DAH caused by frequent cannabis smoking.
