OBJECTIVE: To determine the percentage of proven allergy for local anaesthetics (LA) in patients who were tested because of a clinical suspicion of LA allergy.
DESIGN: Retrospective multicentre case series.
METHOD: All patients from two hospitals who were seen from 2004 through 2013 for a possible allergy to local anaesthetics. Their records were analyzed for the probable type of allergic reaction and allergy tests were performed. Delayed reactions to radio-contrast media (RCM) with positive skin tests are rare. We report the study of a series of 15 patients who presented delayed reactions to RCM, with an analysis of the clinical features and the results of standardized drug skin tests. A study of specific immune response in guinea-pigs after immunization with human papilloma viruses (HPV) purified from plantar warts, hand warts and condyloma acuminata is reported. Oral food challenge (OFC) is the gold standard for the diagnosis of food allergy. They are conducted to confirm whether an allergy to food exists (initial challenge) or to monitor for resolution of a food allergy. A double-blind, randomised controlled trial was performed to compare the pain experienced on intradermal and subcutaneous injection of lignocaine 1% with adrenaline 1:100,000, lignocaine 1%, procaine 1% and normal saline. A linear analogue pain scale was used to assess pain. RATIONALE: Anaphylaxis is a serious, generalized allergic reaction typically triggered by drugs, food, and bee venom, which can be life-threatening. Seeds are one of the major food allergens and can cause anaphylaxis as well as systemic hypersensitivity reactions. Flaxseed has been widely used crop for numerous purposes, such as in alternative medicine and as a dietary supplement, hypersensitivity to it has rarely been reported.

An immunoenzymatic test, the E.L.I.S.A. test is used to diagnose human Strongyloidiasis. First results show that this reaction can complete other investigational methods already in use to diagnose this affection, i.e. coproanalysis and intradermal reactions, both in epidemiological studies and individual cases. In addition, the test is a good means of assessing the effectiveness of treatment.

We report a case of intraoperative fentanyl anaphylactic reaction. The patient was a previously healthy 12-year-old boy with severe head injury by a traffic accident. We experienced a rapid hemodynamic change after fentanyl injection and that occurred again after another fentanyl injection. In the second hemodynamic change, red wheals appeared on the skin. Skin testing is useful in nutritional assessment because decreased immunity is associated with malnutrition. Absence of positive reactions indicates anergy, reaction to one test shows some decreased immunity, and response to two or more tests is considered normal. Variation in number and type of test antigens could lead to contradictory results. Also, conventional intradermal injections vary in antigen strengths, injection techniques, and subjective evaluations, and are also uncomfortable. This study compared results from three, four, or seven antigens in relation to other nutritional indices.
