Electrochemical dual-sensing of lactate and glucose using NiO nanoparticles with cross-sensitivity calibration.

Detection and monitoring of lactate and glucose levels in biological fluids and cell cultures are essential for understanding metabolic disorders. While electrochemical biosensors are commonly used, traditional enzymatic sensors face challenges related to stability, reproducibility, and cost. To address these limitations, we developed non-enzymatic sensors for lactate and glucose detection using nanostructured nickel oxide (NiO)-modified screen-printed carbon electrodes. The sensors were fabricated by drop-casting a NiO/Nafion/ethanol dispersion onto the working electrode, and their performanc

[Comparative evaluation of the influence of calcium channel blockers of derivatives of 1,4-dihydropyridine--amlodipine and dimeodipine--on parameters of carbohydrate metabolism in the blood of rats with doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy].

Presented are experimental data on the influence of calcium antagonists of the third-generation derivatives of 1,4-dihydropyridines--amlodipine (1.5 mg/kg), dimeodipine (1.5 mg/kg)--on parameters of carbohydrate metabolism in rat blood model doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy. The possibility for correcting carbohydrate metabolic disorders in the blood with the above drugs through a reduction of lactate, lactate/pyruvic retio, LDH activity, normalization of the level of glycogen, glucose, pyruvate.

Lactate uptake in the rumen and its contributions to subacute rumen acidosis of goats induced by high-grain diets.

Rumen acidosis is the consequence of feeding rapidly fermentable grain diets and it is considered the most common nutritional disorder in intensive feeding ruminants. Due to that mechanism of catabolism and transformation is driven by multi-factors, the role of ruminal lactate and its contribution to subacute rumen acidosis has not been well defined yet. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of SARA on the production, absorption, circulation, and transformation of lactate in the rumen. In this study, rumen samples were collected from 12 adult Saanen goats (44.5 ± 4.6 kg BW) equipped

Lactate dehydrogenase activity is inhibited by methylmalonate in vitro.

Methylmalonic acidemia (MMAemia) is an inherited metabolic disorder of branched amino acid and odd-chain fatty acid metabolism, involving a defect in the conversion of methylmalonyl-coenzyme A to succinyl-coenzyme A. Systemic and neurological manifestations in this disease are thought to be associated with the accumulation of methylmalonate (MMA) in tissues and biological fluids with consequent impairment of energy metabolism and oxidative stress. In the present work we studied the effect of MMA and two other inhibitors of mitochondrial respiratory chain complex II (malonate and 3-nitropropion

Lactate: panicking doctor or panicking patient?

We report a case of a 51-year-old man with a first panic attack associated with high serum lactate due to hyperventilation induced alkalosis. Hyperlactataemia may trigger somatically oriented tests and divert attention from diagnosing panic disorder (PD). Factors associated with underdiagnosis of PD as well as pathophysiology of hyperlactataemia will be discussed.
