Knee osteoarthritis affects an important percentage of the population throughout their life. Several factors seem to be related to the development of knee osteoarthritis including genetic predisposition, gender, age, meniscal deficiency, lower limb malalignments, joint instability, cartilage defects, and increasing sports participation. BACKGROUND: Prognosis of persistent complaints after knee injury is based on secondary care populations. In a primary care setting, however, no studies have addressed this issue.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the diagnostic value of a low-field open MR system in the diagnosis of knee lesions and to compare it with that of high-field MR systems. In 139 knees,arthroscopic investigations were used as the gold standard to calculate sensitivity, specificity, predictive values and accuracy of the low-field open MR system. The purpose of this study was to document the long-term clinical and radiographic results of open meniscal repair. Thirty consecutive patients, involving 33 open repairs, were evaluated by history, physical examination, KT-1000 arthrometer testing, Lysholm II score, Tegner activity score, and weightbearing radiographs.
